Members of the ' "Ironsides" were chiefly recruited from ' the eastern counties of England. They were extremely religious, almost to a man, and enjoyed the proud distinction distinc-tion of never having been defeated in battle. Cromwell said of them In a speech, the year before his death, "truly they were never beaten, but whenever they were engaged against the enemy they beat continually." - Kansas City Star. |
