Show Isn't Certain as to Mill Possibilities P. C. Winn of the Nephi Mill and Elevator Co., met with a number of our citizens in the Ward Hall Tuesday evening and t-ilked over the possibilities of a (lour mill for Delta. Mr. Winn's opinion was that the country itself it-self had hardly enough population popula-tion to justify the erection of, a mill of very large capacity, and his idea was that it would be better for the time being, to establish es-tablish a warehouse andexhange in connection with an elevator for storing and selling grain than to put in a mill, and intimated intimat-ed that his company might later consider the matter. He also said that owing to the fact that the freight on flour was higher to Southern Cali. than on wheat and prohibited the Utah Miller Mil-ler from grinding the wheat here and sniping the flour to that market and competing against the Cali. miller who get a less rate on the raw product and can finish in California for less money that Utah miller can. However Mr. Winn says that the Interstate Commerce Commission Commis-sion is now holding a hearing in Salt Lake relative to considering the readjustment of rates on these two articles and that if it makes a readjustment in favor of flour, Delta would be an ideal place for a large commercial flour miil rind that there would unquestionably un-questionably be one located here within the next two years, "also ' that his eompary might go far-ther far-ther infer the. .(flatter should the commission decision be favorable to the' miller. Mr. Wjnn made a trip over the adjoining country and says that while he saw some evidences evi-dences of the effect of frost that : there was not near the damage done here that was suffered all the way north to Salt Lake as far as he had" been. He was greatly great-ly surprised at the immensity of : the farming possibilities in this valley and could easily see where the future wheat supply for the Intermountain country was coming com-ing from. |
