It is believed that the set tiers' complaint influenced the general land office in withhold ing the patents. All sides are anxious for an 'adjudication of dispute, however. how-ever. The state is anxious that the company fulfill all requirements require-ments in order that patent may be obtained by the state and in turn given to the settlers. The settlers are anxious for it, as they cannot get title to their lands until patent is issned to the s.tate. The Delta Co.. is also anxious an-xious to have the land office finally pass upon and approve the project. W. D. Candland, president of the state land board, and State Engineer W. D. Beers, will represent re-present the state. George A. Snow and Friderick Steigmeyer, attorney for the company, will represent that concern. Frank Evans, attorney for the settlers on the Delta project, will rep-' resent them in Washington. Representatives, of the department de-partment of the interior recently inspected the project and were understood to have rendered a favorable report upon the amount of water being delivered to the settlers and the quality of crops produced on the project. The land board has approved the project and will protect in Washington against the withholding with-holding of patent to the state. N. T. Ditch Controversy We understand that a meeting of some of the farmers of the North Tract was held at the Woodrow school house last Mon-' day evening to protest against the issuance of patent by the U. S. government to the state of Utah, of a certain section of the North Tract segregation Carey-Act Carey-Act land on account of the alleged al-leged shortage of capacity of some of the canals in that section. We are also informed that State Engineer Beers was here last week accompanied by Mr. Purton of the U. S. Geological Geologi-cal Survey, Water Resource Bureau, Bur-eau, detailed by the government to measure the capacity of the North Tract canals. We are told that, after inspecting the canals they reported that they were all capable of carrying from one to twenty-five percent more than their rated capacity. In some instances, however, the canals are not filled to their carrying-capacity. carrying-capacity. Report comes from Salt I ake that, owing to recent complaints of the settlers on the North side of the Delta Land & Water Co.'s project, the company's canals were not large enough, probably will be adjudicated through the arguments before the general land office in Washington the coming week.
