Show Hogs From Utah Desert More new hog territory was added to the Kansas City market today when A. L. Simons of Delta, Del-ta, Utah, arrived at the yards with a shipment of 211 head of light hogs which had been on .the road for six days and had traveled 1,400 miles. The hogs weighed about 150 lbs. and sold at $9.25 to $9.50. "It was a remarkable trip for me," said Mr. Simons, a native of that state, who had never been here before. "I traveled with the hogs, and, of course, had little rest. I was surprised to find that I came through without losing a hog and without with-out crippling one of them. The sale was very satisfactory. "We are branching out fast in hog raising. In the year 1914 only two carloads of hogs were shipped from Delta. Last year about 30 carloads of hogs were sent out. We will ship this year fully 150 carloads from there. We graze our hogs on alfalfa and fatten them on wheat. We have not had a case of hog cholera there." K. C. Drovers' Telegram, |
