Show farming land will be put In this year twice what was In last year. The Utah Real Estate and Live Slock Company has got in a car of seed potatoes and those who want some should call for them. Mr. and Mrs. Watt announce the engagement of their daughter Jean to Mr. Wlnford Paxton, the marriage to take place In May. Among the new comer to Delta Is Win. Heatherly, of Dillon, Colo. Mr. Heatherly has a farm southeast of towu and will have hi family out before be-fore long. He Hay a good many people peo-ple at Dillon are becoming interested in Delta. The Hotel Delta is getting ready for the summer weather by getting In a line new refrigerator. A. I. Wallace was In the city last week to lay In a supply of builders hardware, paints, oils, etc. Ho has bought the building recently used by the Delta Lumber Co. and moved It on tlte lot north of the office of the Utah Real Kstate and Live Slock So. and will carry a full line of goods. R. L. Humphreys and family left this week for the north. Mr. Humphreys will establish himself In the lumber business In Idaho und will return this week to ship his goods. His friends met at the hall last Friday night and gave him a farewell party. Mr. Humphreys Is one of the early settlers in Delta and his many friends wish him much success in his new Held. .Mr. Hanks, the man who lost both eyes and bauds In an explosion of primers eight years ago, lectured in the hall last Wednesday. His lecture was made up of humorous stories, noble sentiment eloquently expressed and beautiful word pictures He has got the largest part of his education since he lost his sight and Is a wonderful won-derful example of what can be accomplished accom-plished under great disadvantages. IN AND AROUND DELTA He Week's News from the Coming Metropolis It I a pretty busy place around the depot these day. It look like a camping ground with the large number num-ber of setltera' tents and stock. Some Idea of the way settlers are coming In can be Judged by the fact that seventeen seven-teen car with stock and effect for the settlers around Delta have come In during the past week, and more are on the way. They come from all part ' of the country. D. A. Hunker and John Jimpson of the Hub Mercantile Co., were down from Salt Lake and spent several days looking around the country. They are surprised at the improvements that have been made since their last visit. They are contemplating the erection of a big store building on Clark street, but the matter has not been settled sufficiently to give anything any-thing definite this week. The town board held their regular monthly meeting last Saturday night. Resides tho routine business they passed an ordinance placing a tax of $1 on male dogs and $:i on females. They also decided to enforce the Sunday Sun-day ordinance, so all general business houses are to remain closed hereafter on Sunday. Agent Holt also says that the Sunday Sun-day dosing applies to the depot as well. He will not handle any freight or express on that day, as he wants a little time to himself. Dr. Stockham' new drug store Is now open and ready for business. He has his first lot of goods In and can supply yoti with drugs, medicines, poison for gophers, etc., garden and flower seeds and other goods In his line. Tho new shed for the Maker Lum- ber Co. is nearly completed. It Is 130 --4 - fwt In - size, being -the" largest shed they have, and will keep all their lumber In out of the weather. Postmaster Hlshop took possession of the office on Monday, and Is getting the run of things. Although the boxes for his new office were ordered the 11 th of last month, they have not yet arrived, so the old quarters will have to serve for a while. McClean & Copenlng report many Hales of farm lauds and city lot during dur-ing the past week, and they have been busy showing lands during the duy and making out deeds and contracts at night. Many enquiries are also coming com-ing from all parts of the country. A fifteen horsepower oil engine was unloaded on Monday for T. W. Mason and has been demonstrating on the streets this week. It Is not a very faat traveler, but can pull a big load. It will be used to clear and cultivate the 4) acres of land Mr. Mason owns on the west side. Manager Smith of the Valley Orchard Orch-ard Co., also has hi big steam Rum-ley Rum-ley engine at work. It can haul 24 plows and plow 30 acres per day. One hundred feet of Iron flume is being laid from the turbine pump to connect with the ditch that Is to water their 1200 acre of land.
