Show Clean Town Contest Over In the recent clean town eon-test, eon-test, Richfield, in Sevier County, won the highest score, with Salt Lake City second. Richfield's score was 73.5, while that of Salt Lake City was 72.5. Every town in the state except three, was scored.' These three were Escalante, Kanab and Koosharem, and it was found to be almost impossible to reach these towns at the time of scoring, owing to the bad roads, and their remoteness from the usual routes of travel. They will be scored later, but it was ascertained that none of these three towns were in the winning class. The State Board of Health states that the annual "Clean Town" contest is productive of great improvement in the health of the towns of the state, as well as in their appearance. As each town is rated on the disposal dis-posal of sewage, barnyard refuse, re-fuse, etc., it will readily be seen that a direct effect on the health of the community is secured, while the rating on the appearance appear-ance of the streets, sidewalks, fences, buildings, and roadways, secures a distinct improvement to the eye of the beholder. Delta is fast becoming a place of importance on the Salt Lake Route, and it is only fitting that it should make some effort to secure at least a rating that will entitle it to "Honorable Mention" Men-tion" in next year's contest. Let tis not forget that next year we may stand a chacce if we all work for that end, and each one take care of the little part of the town that he owns- Even if we get nothing in the way of praise for our efforts, we will at least have the satisfaction of knowing that the town, as a whole, looks better and more inviting to strangers because of our efforts. ef-forts. Come out and enjoy yourself at the Delta Opera house Friday night. Tip-ptrary Tip-ptrary music and a good time fer all. |
