Show Venison Barbecued At Hinckley Party Tuesday evening Skipper Arthur Reeve in charge, barbecued two deer for a Hallowe'en party for the Hinckley M Men and Gleaner Girls, Sea Scouts, and Junior Girls, with all servicemen especially invited, in-vited, and the mutual presidency. At 7:30 everyone assembled in front of the church and a large truck transported them to Goblin's Roost, where they held communion with the spooks. Erma Cropper, Melvin Robins, Betty Swenson, and Dick Shurtliff were the program committee and kept a lively program pro-gram of songs, jokes and stories going. Only those who have eaten Art's barbecued venison know-how know-how delicious it was. kins, and De Loise Robins. Belva Morris received the guest prize; May Cropper won high score, and Nina Mecham second. Mrs. R. Swenson entertained on Sunday evening in honor of Lt. Arnold Hecker and wife, who left Monday morning for San Diego, where they will make their home. 1st. Lt. Hecker was a pilot of a B-17 and completed 35 missions over Germany. Since last March he has been in Texas and Florida where he was in training as a transport pilot. He expects his discharge November 2, but he signed up for the air corps reserve if they need him. Mrs. Elmira K. Pratt of Manti spent the week with her brother, Samuel K. Knight, and niece, Cree Palmer. Mrs. Mabel Chaffin has her home newly painted and a new fence around her lot. Also Ray and Grant Hardy's homes are beautiful in their new coat of white paint. We are all happy over the condition con-dition of Mrs. Blain Robinson who was seriously ill, and is now much better. Wednesday evening the Hinckley Hinck-ley M. I. A. held their Harvest ball in the gymnasium. Everyone came dressed in aprons and overalls. over-alls. Light refreshments were served, ser-ved, i M-S Heber Bishop received a letter from their son, F 1c Jay Bishop. He had just returned from overseas on a patrol boat and they had brought from overseas four large ships to Key West, Florida, to be repaired. He spent two weeks with his wife at Long Beach before he left for Florida. M-S H. C. Taves and Mrs. J. F. Affleck of Sacramento, visited G. R. Hardy over the weekend. His eldest brother of Salt Lake City, also was his guest. Farron Bliss, of Hinckley is visiting visit-ing his sisters and friends in Long Beach. Mrs. Lydia and Roma Ekins and Erma Cropper spent Monday in Fillmore with Mrs. Alda Reeve. Mrs. Boyd Murray and children of Kanab are spending a month with her parents, M-S Leslie Webb. Delma Jean Webb was home over the weekend. She is attending attend-ing school at the B. A. C. Sunday morning S 1c Lee B. Pratt called his parents on the telephone from San Francisco. He has been with the armed guard and came from Hawaii on a hispi-tal hispi-tal ship loaded with wounded soldiers. sol-diers. They landed at Treasure Island.
