Show Chatter Box ... Dear Suzy, Here it is Ground Hog Day (quimp day to us) and if the little quimp expects to see his shadow he will have to sit under an arc light at night. It is so foggy and overcast here that Jim Steele is planning on botling the amosphere, ; adding a dash of Del-Dessa and selling it as a tonic good for anything any-thing from falling hair to ingrown toenails. We have had a little more snow and now we are having a thaw. ; You know the kind of a thaw where it is a nice gooey slush. There will be enough mud tracked into the houses here to plant a ; Victory Garden in front of your fire 1 place. You could weed it then with a vacuum cleaner, light a fire in the fireplace and cook your produce pro-duce without even bothering to harvest it. The kids have had fun the last few days. The snow packs exceptionally excep-tionally well and they have been having excellent snowball fights. Their targets have mainly been girls. I suppose in the next world it will be the girls who paste the boys with snowballs. (That is, provided pro-vided there is snow where most of these boys are headed for.) The birthday dances were highly successful in all of the places they were held, but they haven't checked check-ed up at present to know just how-much how-much money they will have realized realiz-ed from the dances. All kinds of rumors are running about on the Fourth War Loan and all of them good. More and more of the towns around here are reporting re-porting their quota reached or well passed and the towns that haven't reached their quotas are going strong. Utah, as a whole, is way down in the bogs in this drive, but, thank goodness the little "hick towns" are coming through in manner man-ner that ought to make those plutocratic plu-tocratic city slickers ashameel of themselves. I suppose that when this is all over, you and the rest of your too-highly too-highly paid war workers will be the first to bellow for another WPA, as you didn't lay away a nest egg for another day. Well, let it be a lesson les-son to you if you don't lay away-some away-some money, while you have it, in some more war bonds. I was certainly a social success at the birthday dances I went to. but it has left me with that "tired feeling" from tripping the fantastic fantas-tic too strenuously. So, I will close.
