Show Canadian Wheat Movement Speeded The War Food Administration has obtained a priority on 200 cars a day to transport wheat from the West Provinces of Canada to the United States. Such a movement should bring 40,000,000 bushels of wheat into the United States during dur-ing the next four months. During 1943 approximately 183,000,000 bushels bu-shels of grain were transported over the Great Lakes to United States Ports. It is planned to step up this movement to 285,000,000 bushels in 1944. Canada still has a large surplus of wheat, possibly 300,000,000 bushels above the estimated es-timated requirements and essential reserves. |
