Show St. Nick Lands In Delta Monday For Holiday Visit Santa Claus landed by plane in Delta Monday afternoon, at 1 p. m., making a truly flying visit to the children of west Millard. Hundreds of eager children thronged Clark Street, waiting for the jolly old gent, who was circling above the town shortly before 1 in the new Cessna piloted by Leo Burraston. The plane landed on Clark Street about by the Service Drug, and taxied tax-ied up to park in front of the community com-munity Christmas tree on the intersection. in-tersection. A couple of bounces acted as brakes, but as the children child-ren were unaware of this, a chorus of screams rose as the plane swooshed swoo-shed down to the tree, as it looked like Santa Claus and his pack were going to be splattered all over the Main Street. However, they drew up with a flourish, and Santa alighted, safe and sound, for his visit with the children, who immediately swarmed swarm-ed over him. He drew them into the lobby of the Crest Theatre for a chat, and where the management manage-ment would give a free show for the children after his departure. As his schedule is extremely crowded at this time of the year, Santa had to leave before all the children had talked with him, but as he took off again for the North Pole, he showered the crowd with candy kisses, and gave his promise to be back Christmas eve, and have gifts for all boys and girls. |
