Homnoy, assisL- ant lo tho quorum of twelve, was the'guost speaker at the Desoret stake conference held on Saturday and Sunday, March 23 and 21. 1 At the morninR session, Elder Uomney spoke about the Church welfare plan. He stated that no lone has to live it, but n they aVe to live according to the laws of i God, this is one which should be ad h erred to in order to live the Celestial Ce-lestial Order. To live it one must be inspired to unselfish living and believe be-lieve that the plan was inspired by God and given to the Church load- ers for t he good of the members. Elder Romney told of his recent : trip lo Washington, D. C. with Elder El-der Lee for the purpose of meeting meet-ing with the undersecretary of ag- j riculture to determine whether or not the church would fall under the government order to turn in ail surplus wheat, the organization having stored wheat in the past when it was being dumped by governmental gov-ernmental agencies. After hearing the church welfare plan, the secretary sec-retary made the decision that the wheat couud be kept by the group and used for the aiding of those who need help in the LDS group. In the afternoon the theme of Elder Romney's talk was "Standing "Stand-ing Alone, Men are Weak." He developed de-veloped the idea that in depending depend-ing upon others and upon God and working with others, one gains in strength. Oak City ward furnished the music mu-sic for the general sessions. Attending the conferences were 726 members in the morning session ses-sion and 682 in the afternoon, with 262 attending the early morning priesthood meetings. Fine programs were developed in all the meetings. At the mothers' and daughters' meeting, conducted by Loa Black, the theme of "Happiness" "Hap-piness" was carried out. The following advancements were made in the priesthood. Ordained Or-dained as high priests were: T, C. Gronning, Thomas William Bennett, Ben-nett, Elmer L. Fullmer, Lawrence Clark, Leigh R. Allred, Wililam J. Starley, James S. Blake, and Albert Al-bert L. Payne. Ordained as seventies seven-ties were: Rulon A. Dutson and E. Blaine Spendlove. Those ordained as elders were: Max Hannifin, Benjamin Ben-jamin J. Stephensen and Joseph S. Fullmer. The second qorum of elders and the fourth quorum of elders were Teorganized with Golden Black being be-ing released as president of the second se-cond quorum and Ward Killpack being sustained as president. In the fourth quorum. Perry Tippetts was released from being president and Gordon Moody was sustained to replace him. |
