TRAVELING ASSEMBLY Hinckley high school took theii traveling assembly to three differ-ent schools last Wednesday. irsl next slop at stop was at Milford, Beaver and final stop at Fillmore. The following students went and participated in various numbers. The advisors that went were Elden Hurst, Donald Stock-man, Faye Davis, and Esther Pet-ersen. BALLGAME Two ballgames were played at Hinckley during the past few days. The first was with Parowan and the second with Beaver. Hinckley took high score on both games beating Parowan 11-- 1 and taking Beaver 7-- 3. RODEO The Hinckely high school held their second annual rodeo Friday, May 9. A large crowd attended the rodeo even though it was rather cold that night. A great number of prizes were given to the win-ners. Sheldon Christensen and Dale Calling tied for the Cowboy. They were given their choice of a trophy or a jacket from Bucks Sporting Goods in Richfield and also a pair of levis from Harold R. Morris. The clowns for the rodeo were Prof. Sheldon Christ-ensen, Miss Potts Buzzy Jay Wiz-zar- d Mc Donald and Jiggs Cloyd Theobald. The rodeo was a big success. The rodeo will be held annually in other years to come. SiiiicEiley News LYLA HAE TALBOT Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Hilton visited here over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Lamb, parents of Mrs. Dean Strlngham are visiting with them for a few days. Mr. Lamb went back but Mrs. Lamb is staying to take care of Mrs. Stringham when she gets out of the hospital. Dean Stringham's par ents are also visiting with them this week. Mrs. La Rue Fuller and Dennis of Salt Lake City visited with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Taylor last week end. Mr. and Mrs. Aroet Taylor and Mr. and Mrs. Ren Taylor went to Manti to a funeral last week. Mr., and Mrs. Byron Carter and Mr. and Mrs. George Stewart went to Meadow last week to a funeral. Mr. and Mrs. R. Swensen spent Monday in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Talbot were in Provo last week on business. Mr. and Mrs. Goldwvn Cluff, Jr., and family spent a few days in Hinckley last week. College students home for the week end were Daryl Cropper, Ron-ald Nielson and Marlene Ekins. A special Mothers' Day program was given last Sunday. It was a skit and was shown through illus-tration and music. The mothers were given a potted plant as a token of love from the ward. A party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cluff Talbot fol-lowing the alumni banquet last Saturday night. Those who attend-ed were the graduates of 1932. This class was honored at the banquet. The group talked over school days. Punch and cake were served. The following people, at-tended: Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Green er from Gunnison. Mrs. Gretha Petersen Shipp of Richland, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Leo Day of Oasis, Mr .and Mrs. Lester Cropper, Des-eret, Mr. and Mrs. Max Robinson, Delta, Mr. Howard Blake, Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Warnick, and Mr. and Mrs. Cluff Talbot from Hinckley. Dorothy Morris spent a few days Last week in Salt Lake City. -- Mr: and Mrs. Donald G. Stock-man spent the week end in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Spendlove were visiting with Mrs. Spendlove this week end. - Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hilton '.and family were in Hinckley from Too-ele this week:, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Swensen were also Hinckley visitors. Other Hinckley visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Webb. There were a great many other people here for the (alumni banquet. At Oak City Mr. and Mrs. Donald E. Petti-gre-were honored at a wedding reception Saturday night in Oak City. They were married in the Salt Lake L D S temple April 30. They have just returned from a honeymoon at the Grand Canyon. The bride is the former Alton Lovell, daughter of Mrs. Myrtle Lovell, of Oak City. Mr. Pettigrew is a son of Mrs. LeGrande Wardle, of Rock Springs, Wyo. For the reception the bride wore her wedding gown of white lace, ballerina length and Lace hat to match. She was attended by her sisters Mrs. Marie Lake and Mrs. LaVene Gillen. Her brother, Clead Lovell, recently returned missionary, stood as best man. Clead Lovell was master of ceremonies for the program. Afton Roper and Gary Roper played a piano duet. Colleen Anderson sang in Be uovmg you Always , wiin piano accompaniment by Maurine Anderson. Eldon Sorenson sang "Because", with ElDonna Ander-son, aoompanist. Diane Harris gave a reading. The new Mr. and Mrs.' Pettigrew are making their home in Salt Lake City. The bride is a Delta high school graduate and has been employed the past year in Salt Lake City. Mr. Pettigrew is a vet-eran and was graduated in chem-istry from the U. of U. IMmit Flowers For Fsall Show Pupils of Delta elementary school are now planting flower seeds for their annual Junior Flower Show j next fall. This week Bonnie Bun ker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bunker, gave marigold seeds to all the first graders. The children are urged to plant and grow as many varieties of flowers as they can for more blooms for the coming show. Mrs. Lamond Bunker is director of the show, in cooperation with the school teachers. AWARD ASSEMBLY Assembly was held An Award Wednesday, May 14, 1952. Mr. and Mrs .Glen Curtis and children from Salt Lake City spent Mother's Day with Glen's mother, Mrs. Inez Damron. Mr. and Mrs. Irish Anderson are spending a few days in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Jerold Bennett and Mrs. Vilate Maxfield are visitors in Salt Lake this week. The Garden Club of Deseret met at the home of Luella Western on Wednesday evening and reorgan-ized the club. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bishop's fam-ily were all home for Mother's Day dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Lovell and family from Delta,. Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Bishop and family of Cedar City and Mr. and Mrs. Dav-id Bishop and son of Provo. Other guests were Lucy Jane and Dee Lovell of Lark, Utah. Mr. and Mrs. James C. Bishop are staying for the next week while James gets his grain planted before returning to Cedar City. Mr. Dean Webster of Cedar City visited Sunday and Monday with his sisters, Mrs. Venessa Skeem and Mrs. Cassie Johnson. The monument that is to be erected at the cemetery in honor of Vincent Blackburn and Nathan Roundy, who gave their lives for their country, will be started in the near future. Mr. Henry Han-sen of Delta will build it. Anyone wishing to bring some pretty rocks to put in this monument should do so immediately. When it is com pleted, fitting services will be held on the ground. Probably on Mem-orial Day. A nice program was given to honor the mothers Sunday in Sun-day school. A token of love was presented to each mother present. Our "up and at it" Garden Club held a successful bazaar last Thursday evening. Mr. Ward Stan-wort- h was the lucky winner of the silk quilt. Other prizes were given away also. Hilda Gillen got a pair of pillow slips, Glen Ander-son got a sofa pillow and lone Christensen got a cake. The Club has purchased a new power lawn mower so they can keep the church yard trimmed in good style. : Misses Beverly and Mildred Dut-so-and Carol Bennett, who are employed in Walker Bank, Salt Lake City, came home Sunday for Mothers' Day with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oak Dutson and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bennett.. Pvt.'. Ronald W. Jensen, who .has Just" completed ia radar repair course at." Fort' Bliss, Texas, is coming home this week to spend a y furlough with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jensen. Sfc. Raymond Clark, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Clark, Sugarville, returned home Monday on a 30 day furlough. He has been in Korea for the past year. PETITION TO THE HONORABLE BOARD OF MILLARD COUNTY COMMISSIONERS: Whereas the citizens and tax-payers in the area of West Mil-lard County are wtihout adequate or reasonable hospital facilities ev-en under ordinary conditions; And whereas the health, wel-fare and public interests of the area require additional and ade-quate hospital facilities for ordin-ary use and for emergency pur-poses; And whereas the same citizens and taxpayers aTe willing that the tax levies in Millard County be changed to provide for the levy-ing and collecting of a tax as provided by law under title Utah Code Annotated as Am-ended, for the erection and main-tenance of hospitals; Now therefore, we the under-signed citizens and taxpayers do hereby resepctfully request and urge the Honorable Board of Mil-lard County Commissioners to levy such taxes as are necessary, not to exceed the five (5) mills per-mitted by law, for such hospital purposes. It is further requested that the Honorable Board of County Com-missioners together with a duly appointed hospital committee work out the advisability of a matched Federal Aid Program.
