Show Little irl Has Narrow Escape Deborah, 17 months old daughter daugh-ter o'f Mr. and Mrs. S. O. Stoddard, of Delta, narrowly escaped death Friday when she fell into a creek at Oak City. She was carried about 20 feet by the stream, which although not deep at that place is swift. Her mother pulled her from the rushing rush-ing water just four feet above a bridge which would have struck the little girl in the head. Mrs. Stoddard was visiting an aunt, and thought the small Deborah Deb-orah was in another room with others of the 'famlly.Those thought the little girl was with her mother. moth-er. Kathie, Deborah's older sister, came running to the house to say that Deborah had put her foot into in-to the stream. When Mrs. Stoddard Stod-dard ran out she saw the child had toppled into the stream and was being rapidly carried away. She rushed to her rescue, and the child was saved, wet, soared, but not hurt. |
