MYERS Funeral services for Pfc. Robert J. Myers, 20, killed in action in ' v Korea, Oct. 17, 1951, will be conducted con-ducted in Delta First ward chapel Saturday, March 8, at 2 p. m. by Bishop E. L. Moody, Delta Third ward. Military honors will be accorded' the young veteran by Arthur L. Cahoon Post 89 and Theo Que Jensen Jen-sen Post 117, Arnerican Legion, directed di-rected by Frank Bishop, district commander. The firing squad and color guard will come from Fort Douglas. The body will arrive at the Delta railroad station Friday at 2:05 p. m., escorted by Cpl. Narold R. Freeman. Free-man. Burial will be in the Delta cemetery ceme-tery under direction ot L. N. Nickle and sons mortuary. Robert was born Feb. 27, 1931 in Delta, a son of Angus and Freda Winsor Myers. He attended Delta schools and was graduated from Delta high school in 1949. He was employed in Salt Lake City until he entered the service. He enlisted March 15, 1951, in the infantry. He was at Fort Lewis Wash., for three days, and then sent to Hawaii for basic training. In July, 1951, he was sent to Japan and then to Korea, where he had served two months before he was killed. His last letter to his parents was dated Oct. 11, 1951, at which time he wrote he was building embankments. embank-ments. He told them not to worry about him, as he was well and in good spirits. He is survived by his parents and older brother, Elmo Myers, of Delta, Del-ta, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Winsor, of Salt Lake City. |
