Show Fire At Delta Cleaners Soon Out Thursday The fire siren Thursday at 11 a. m. brought the Delta Volunteer Fire Department to the Service Cleaners in a matter of seconds. A blaze theer in the back room was soon put out. Cause of the fire was not definitely defin-itely known but a pipe at the back of one of the tumblers had exploded explod-ed with a force that rattled the windows in the front of the establishment. estab-lishment. Eldon Sorenson, proprietor, used the fire extinguisher to keep the blaze confined to the corner of the room until the firemen arrived. Fire oharred the ceiling in the northwest corner of the room, and melting tar spattered everything in the vicinity. As the fire was put out dense smoke settled down. The tumbler automatically filled fil-led with water in the emergency, and the load of clothes inside were well soaked. A table filled with finished men's shirts was nearby, and the shirts all had to be done over to get rid of the smoky smell. Fortunately, the damages were not as heavy as they could have been without the prompt arrival of the firemen. They soon had everything every-thing under control, a fact which Mr. and Mrs. Sorenson appreciate. |
