LYNNDYL BY MARY IQHNSON Mrs. Lucille Johnson and son, George drove to Cedar City to visit with Mrs. Johnson's mother and spend Decoration Day. Kindergarten started last Mon-day morning with nineteen child-- , ren in attendance. Five of1 them coming from Leamington. Ruth Ab egglen is the teacher. It will con-tinue for a six weeks period. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Abegglen and Rex visited in Salt Lake Mem-orial Day and also at Provo with Mr. and Mrs. DeLong Banks. Mrs. Mary Smith had as her holiday guests Mr. and Mrs. Joe Easterbrook and family of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Alma Anderson and family and Mrs. Annie Ashby, of Fillmore were among the towns people assembled at the cemetery for the American Legion services. They visited at the Clead Nielson home. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Johnson, Mrs. Muriel Burnham and children and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Johnson and family were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lile Johnson Memorial Day. After dinner they all visited the Leamington cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Harry McCardell, Bobbie, Jimmy and Mrs. C. E. Freer drove to Salt Lake Wednesday making visits at Nephi, Provo e. Tuesday evening the MIA spon-sored a sandhill party. All the young people with the officers and teachers enjoyed the frolic. Noreen Shipley and Howard Niel-son were in charge. Mr. and Mrs. Alma D. Hayes and family drove to Lehi and spent the holiday with Mrs. Hayes' par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Fox. Thursday Mr. and Mrs. Willard Stewart and children of Las Vegas arrived and spent the remainder of the week with Mrs. Stewart's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clead Niel-son. Friday they all drove to Salt Lake for the day. Sunday the Clead Nielson family held a family re-union up Oak City Canyon. Mr. and Mrs. Lile Johnson spent the weekend visiting in Cedar City and Hurricane. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nielson and family were in Springville for the day Wednesday. Mrs. Jean Ashby returned here with them for a few days visit. She went home on Monday. Mrs. Ruth Bowers and her moth-er, visited in Nephi Memorial Day where a large group of the fam-ily were assembled. Phyllis Turner is home from the BYU. After a week's visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Turner she will go to Bryce canyon for the summer to work. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Turner drove to Gunnison for Memorial Day. Mrs. Mayme Pargis, Mrs. Anita Crawford and Mr. George Mayer went to Provo for the Day Wednes day. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Whatcott drove to Ogden taking Mr. and Mrs Arving Whatcott where they vis-ited Mr. and Mrs. Garth Whatcott, who have just recently moved to Ogden from Salt Lake. Mrs. Eliza Farnsworth and Mrs. Mary Boles spent several days vis-iting Mrs. Margie Greathouse and family. Margie went on to Salt Lake with them returning Satur-day. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Thompson and family visited in Milford Sun-da- v with their son. Mac and fam- - ily. A large group of young people met at the home of Marilyn Hayes ' for fireside chat following church Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Brant Wall and boys visited at the home of Mrs. Wall's sister, Mrs. Lois McCardell,. The McCardell's made a business trip to Provo and Salt Lake on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Harlen Nielson and family spent Sunday here visiting Mrs. Sam Vest and Mrs. Dawn Mor ris. Kent Nielson is home from Log-an. Sunday Mrs. Maurine Miller and two children of Milford drove up and were joined by Mr. and Mrs.-J-A. Banks and Mr. and Mrs. Her-bert Abegglen going on to Provo for the graduation of Miss Gladys Banks Mrs. ,Ruth : Abegglen. A family gathering was held Mon- - day at the home of DeLong Banks' in Orem. A farewell party will honor Miss Gladys Banks Satur-day! evening in. the Lynndyl ward hall; Miss Banks will enter the mission home June 18 and will serve in the Spanish-America- n mis sion. Everyone is invited to atttend MABEL HARDER Cpls. Thello and Orin Nielson stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, were called home on an emer-gency ten-da- y furlough because of the serious illness of their fath-er. Josiah is much improved, al-though still in the hospital, and the boys returned to camp on Mon day. Orin's hands, injured in a trailer accident, are improving, and it was not necessary to amputate any fingers as at first feared. Mrs. Nellie Anderson is home now after spending the winter with her family. Most of her chil- - dren came for Memorial Day. Mrs. Delma Shields and children stay-ed over the following week. Mr. Glenn Dutson from Ririe, Idaho, visited this week with his uncle, L. E. Roper and family. Mr. Dutson formerly lived in Leaming-ton. Also visiting at the Roper home was Marvin Sheriff of Mil-for-a brother of Mrs. Roper's. Mr. and Mrs. Abel Roper of Oak-City-and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Roper of Milford. Mr. and Mrs. Rich Finlinson drove to Huntsville for Memorial Day. Young Billy Wangsgarden, Klee's nephew, returned with them to spend a few days. Saly and Nancy Nielson, daugh-ters of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Niel-son took part in the piano recital in Lynndyl Sunday. Don Anderson and family of Provo spent the week end with re-latives here. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Dutson drove to Salt Lake City for Mem-orial Day. Miss Margaret Snyder, element-ary supervisor for Millard County and Mrs. Peterson, regional PTA president, were visitors at the Mon-day evening study-grou- Mrs. Jean Ashby of Springville who is visiting relatives in Lynn-dyl, came over Sunday to attend church and greet old friends. The 4-- carnival held Saturday night drew a large and enthusia-stic crowd. Oak City and Lynndyl helped with numbers on the pro-gram, and the Leamington 4-- clubs ran the various booths. Imo-gen- e Nielson of Lynndyl was the lucky winner of the set of dishes given away. Three babies received their bles-sings and names Sunday morning. Nora Jill is the new daughter in the Kenneth Nielson home. Mr. and Mrs. Darnae Nielson have named their son, Gary Louis; and Mr. and Mrs. Fay Overson named their boy Blaine Fay. The Six Stitchettes held their second meeting at the home of Nila Davis Friday, June 1. Joyce opened the meeting with prayer. Basteing, sewing, matching pat-terns and making patches were done. Loa Rose closed the meeting with prayer. The next meeting will be at Katherine Callister's home Saturday at 3 p. m. Week end visitors of Mr. and ' Mrs. Elton Miller were Mr. Miller's sister, Mrs. Louie T. Cox, from Colorado, and brothers, Willis and Claude Miller, and 'families, from Salt Lake City. They left Sunday after visiting Elton and Forrest Miller in Delta. It had been over thirty years since they all lived in Delta. The newly married couple in to-day's Who's Who are Joseph R. Mortensen and his bride, Nora M. Mortensen, from a picture taken in St. George at the time of itheir wedding 50 years ago. They will be honored at a reception Saturday night, June 9, at Delta high school, with all of their children and most of their grandchildren home for the event. |
