The airport recorded the wind at 45 miles an hour, but was unable to record the strong gusts that accompanied the wind. Waves went over the wall and ran down the road to the bottom land to the east. The reinforced concrete wall was badly buckled and torn up as is shown in the picture. Had tne storm lasted out a lew more minutes there is no question but that the wall would have gone out, running almost 4500 acre feet of precious water into in-to the river bottom. Damage to crops under the Deseret and Abraham Irrigation companies can not be estimated had this happened. Manure has been placed back ol the wall to hold the washing wash-ing and it will be completely repaired this fall. |
