Show II. II. S. News LYLA HAE TALBOT DEER HUNTING To climax the end of the har-1 vest season comes the annual deer hunt . It brings another pleasure this year, as we will get out of school until Tuesday, October 23. After the bounteous summer that has just 'passed, the deer and the hunters wil be numerous ,so let us caution you to be careful. Make sure it's a "deer" not someone's "dear" before you shoot. Another warning. Don't forget to be back to school Tuesday morning at 8:55. Let's not try to prolong our vacation, or in the future it may have to be discontinued. CANDY SALE Thursday, October 4, the Pep Club sponsored a candy sale during dur-ing the noon hour. Each member mem-ber of the club donated a batch of candy to be sold. The candy consisted of divinity, 'fudge, pen-oche pen-oche and taffy, and was sold in bags of 7 pieces for 5c. The sale was a great- success and the club made over $6.00. They plan to have this money go to buy new march records for the pep stunts. There will be other similar sales in the future. FUTURE HOMEMAKERS Wednesday, October 4, the FHA initiation was held. The initiation was a candle-light ceremony, in which Irene Lewis, president, presided. The girls' mothers mo-thers were invited and a box for drawing of Chapter Mother was at the door. Mrs. Fern Hepworth's name was drawn; she was awarded awar-ded a corsage of carnations and roses. A program, under the direction of Corma Wright, followed the initiation in-itiation ceremony. Those participating partici-pating were a girls' trio sang "My Own America", a piano solo by Maxine Reeve and a baritone solo by Sherlene Talbot. After the program refreshments were served. The new members are Carol Keller, Kel-ler, Joyce Davis, Sherlene Talbot, and Virginia Stevens. BEAVER GAME Friday, October 5, the Mustang footbal squad and a cheering section sec-tion of eight left the dear old HHS with anticipation 'for the second sec-ond league victory of a promising season. The boys' spirits seemed to drop with the temperature and the Beavers Bea-vers came through with their first touchdown early in the first quarter. quar-ter. The Beaver's pace didn't seem to change much throughout the rest of the game and they came through on the heavy end of a 51-0 51-0 score. MILLARD GAME Hinckley meets Millard in football foot-ball at Hinckley Thursday October 18. The game will be played at 2:30 in the afternoon. The charge will be students with cards, 25c, and adults 50c. The high school would like to see a lot of people to this game. SCHOOL PAPER Hinckley high school paper, the "Mustang Leaderette", was issued I last Monday. . ' This is the first school paper for this year and the staff feels as though they have done a good job. The staff consists of, Editor-in-Chief - Geraldine Black; News Editor Ed-itor - Kathryn Ekins, Dorothy Morris; Mor-ris; Business Manager, Shirley Davis; Sports Editor - Lyla Rae Talbot; Feature Editors - Helen Black, Verlene Stevens; and Advisor Ad-visor is Mrs. Schena. |
