Show Sales Brisk On DUP History Of Millard County The majority of the 2,000 copies o'f the book "Milestones of Millard" Mill-ard" have been sold. (The 825 page book contains a history of Millard County for the past 100 years - -from 1851-1951.) The book, which was a project of the DUP camps in Millard, was not hard to sell. Copies have been bought by former Millard County residents residing not only in other parts of the state but in Alaska, England, Germany and Denmark, as well, as by people living in other oth-er states. A few letters are received receiv-ed each week from people who have just heard that such a book was published and would they please send one to them. The book was published by the Art City Publishing Company of Springville at a cost of $8,513, and came off the press July 1. About a month ago Mrs. Ora B. Hansen, of Fillmore, who was secretary of the project, sent in the final payment pay-ment to the publishers. The cost of getting the pictures taken from the originals amounted to $800. This, too, has all been paid. It is expected that all of the books will be completely sold before be-fore Christmas. By then the DUP orginizations in the county can say, "We have just completed a $10,000 project!" There will not be a reprint of the book as the publishers were only able to hold up the tons of metal until the 15th of August. Hundreds of letters and comments com-ments of praise have been received receiv-ed by the co-authers of the book, Mrs. Stella Day of Fillmore and Mrs. Sebrina C. Ekins of Hinckley, who spent approximately two years each compiling the material. The book contains 825 pages with 100 pages being pictures. According Ac-cording to Mr. Harrison Conover, manager of the publishing company, com-pany, the Millard County book is the largest history book he has ever published and contains more history. Mr. Conover has published many county history books in the last three years. The book contains a history of Fillmore, which was the first state capitol of Utah, with interesting chapters entitled, "points of interest", inter-est", "The first legislature meets", "Second United Order", "Civic Affairs Af-fairs o'f Fillmore and Millard County", Co-unty", "Early Land Owners", "Romance "Ro-mance on the Plains", "Utah War", "Social Life, Communica -tion, Transportation, and Agriculture", Agricul-ture", "History of Building in Millard Mil-lard County" "Indians, State House, Indians, DUP History" and a 50 naee chapter of LDS history writ- ten by Mrs. Isabelle C. Brunson of Fillmore. There is a history of Holden, Meadow, Kanosh, Hatton, Sciipo, Flowell and Cove Fort. In the last half of the book is a history of Deseret, Oasis, Oak City, Leamington, Burbank, Garrison, Garri-son, Abraham, Gandy, Lynndyl, the North and South Tracts, Sutherland, Suther-land, Woodrow, Sugarville McCor-nick, McCor-nick, Topaz and Delta. The last chapters include a history of the industries, the DUP organizations, "Pioneer Ways in the Early Days", a chapter on Deseret Stake history 300 pictures of early West Millard settlers, a list of East Millard Pioneers,- names of war 'veterans, pictures pic-tures of war casualties and a business bus-iness directory. The book had the full support of all the camp organizations in the county, especially that of Mrs. Mary A. Dame, president o'f the East Millard County Company and her officers, and Mrs. Lula Pearson, Pear-son, president of the West Millard Company and her officers. Books may be bought at D.
