Show Delta PTA Opens Winter Meetings First meeting of the season of the Delta Parents-Teachers Assn., was held Wednesday, Oct. 3, in Delta high school with many parents par-ents and teachers present. Mrs. Norma Hansen, chairmen, reported for the health committee. Evan Gardner, chairman, reported for the study group program. A nominating committee was formed for the election of a new vice president pre-sident in the near future. The suggestion box, open for suggestions as to projects and programs pro-grams for future PTA consideration proved a popular feature, and will be used throughout the year. The members voted to raise the membership fee to 50 cents, to cover rising costs and to permit Delta PTA to participate in the state PTA scholarship program. This scholarship is for $100, and would be awarded to a Delta high school girl. It may be used at any college for elementary teachers. Mrs. Louise Lyman, president of the Delta unit, reminded parents present that the membership drive is on during October. Mrs. Betty Baker is chairman of the membership member-ship committee. Envolopes will be sent to the homes by the school children for parents to fill in the membership cards. Delta students gave the program that preceded the business meeting. meet-ing. Eldula East gave a reading. Virginia Clark, Jean Thomas and Carl Dawn Sorenson sang a trio, and Kay Moody, Virginia Rose and Elaine Sorensen, were another trio. Then the groups combined for a double trio. Donald Western was pianist. |
