Show Oldest Printed Page in World Kept in Gutenberg Museum MAINZ, GERMANY. The oldest printed page in the world is kept in the Gutenberg museum here. Johann Gutenberg, inventor of the printing press, printed two postcard post-card size pages of the "Last Judgment" Judg-ment" in 1445. Professor Dr. Rup-pel, Rup-pel, director of the museum, estimated esti-mated their value at about $6,000. The museum also contains the famous Gutenberg Bible, hand printed by Gutenberg from 1452 to 1455, which is the highest valued book in the world. It is valued at about $240,000 and was exhibited in the Congressional Library in Washington, Wash-ington, D.C. Other famous books in the museum include the handwritten Bible of Charlemagne, the "Psalterium," which was finished by Gutenberg in 1459 and the illustrated illus-trated history Bible of Dibold Lauber, dating back to 1420. |
