Show Hinckley News BIRDIE LOU HILTON Irvin Cha'ffin, recently returned missionary, visited in Hinckley dur ing the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Jess Jones were week end visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Garth Bishop. Mrs. Jones is the former Fayone Bishop. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Manis spent the week end in Hinckley visiting with friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. George Dobson of Salt Lake City were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Whicker over the week end. Ronald Mecham, who is employed employ-ed in Provo, was home over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Stringham spent Saturday and Sunday in Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Loren Talbot and family went to TOD Park Sunday to visit their daughter, Mrs. Eddie Lee. Golden Cluff, Sr., who is employed employ-ed in Salt Lake was in Hinckley over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Workman drove to Hinckley over Saturday and Sunday to spend a few days. The services Sunday evening were under the direction of the LDS Girls Organization, which is part of the MIA. Mrs. Dolphea Bishop took charge. Most of the girls who took part on the program pro-gram were those who hadn't had the privildge of speaking in a public meeting before. The entire program was centered around a Christmas theme. The opening number was "O Holy Night" sung by a double girls trio. A four part talk entitled "What Christmas Real ly Means" was developed by Jackie Jack-ie Silvers, Genieve Terry, Bonnie Davis and Lena Theobald. Verla Wright gave a short talk on "Christ mas. in the Bible" followed by "Franz Joehan's Holy Night", a reading given by Edith Petersen. During the reading the double trio sang "Silent Night" accompanied by Roma Ekins on the organ and Ruth Talbot on the piano. Colleen Blake read a editoral on Christmas after which Ramona Robinson recited re-cited the poem "She Trims her Tree Alone". The double trio then sang another number a'fter which Myrna Petersen concluded the program pro-gram with a talk on Christmas in the home. The ward choir also rendered several appropriate numbers. num-bers. Dale Bishop left for induction into in-to the Army Monday morning. He will first report to Fort Douglas and then be assigned to another base. His wife will return to her home in Washington for the present. pre-sent. ' Mrs. Helen Hinckley and Mrs. Ann Clawson of Salt Lake City were house guests at the Wilson's home in Hinckley over the weekend week-end to attend the funeral of Mrs. Hawley. The Relief Society Bazaar held Friday night proved to be a great success and many useful and beaut iful articles were sold. A special program was enjoyed and pie and ice cream sold as well as many other baked articles. Tuesday the Relief Society had a special work meeting. Several quilts were worked on, and a demonstration dem-onstration was given on making cotton pictures by Mrs. Stoddard. A light lunch was served. Mrs. Nancy Western also gave a demon stration on crocheting. Each member mem-ber was given a booklet of recipes for Christmas candies and cookies. Mrs. Lafe Nielson and children went to Salt Lake City on Wednesday. |
