Show Cancer Society (lames State Head For Fund Drive "Jt'lV- J; - A- - K ' Y' - 1 ' 1 fed A. Pratt Kesler, Utah State Chairman of the 1950 Cancer Crusade. He directs campaign for funds beginning April 1st. Appointment of A. Pratt Kesler, Salt Lake City attorney, as Utah chairman of the 1950 Cancer Campaign Cam-paign which begins April 1st, was announced yesterday by Rendall N. Mabey, president of the Utah division, American Cancer Society. Mr. Kesler, who is assistant city attorney of Salt Lake City, and a member of the committee on traffic traf-fic courts of the American Bar association, will aso direct the Salt Lake County cancer drive, Mr. Mabey said. April has been set aside as Cancer Can-cer Control Month by Congressional Congression-al action, and proclamations issued is-sued by Governor- J. Bracken Lee and by the mayors of cities and towns throughout the state, have urged the participation of all citizens citi-zens of, Utah in this vital campaign cam-paign to save lives. The proclamations, proclam-ations, in calling for generous public support of the campaign point to the fact that one person per-son in every eight alive today will eventually be a victim of cancer. Cancer, including leukemia and Hodkin's disease is now the second sec-ond ranking cause of death a-mong a-mong children. Mr. Kesler stated that more funds are imperative to support a vast research program, medical service, public education and cancer can-cer sympton clinics throughout the state to combat this dreaded killer of mankind. Mrs. Biah Sjostrom, Oasis, captain cap-tain of the west Millard cancer unit, will direct the fund drive locally. lo-cally. Aided by a crew of commun ity chairmen, a house to house canvass will be made to solicit funds. |
