Ut., Thurs., Mar. 31,1949 Is Showered With Linens Mrs. Carol Warnick received many gifts and best wishes at the linen shower Friday spon-sored by the Auxiliaries o Legion Posts 89 and 117. Guests called between 4 and 5:30 p. m., at the home of Mrs. Verna Walch. Re-freshments of cake and punch were served. Mrs. Warnick had lost all her household possessions in a fire recently ,and the shower was to help her replace the linens. Celebrates 70th Birthday 'TTnd Mrs. T. C. Gronning at a dinner party Sunday, i. celebration of Mr. Gronning's '" wth birthday. Guests were Mr. j Mrs Carlyle Gronning, and from Milford Mrs. Lottie chUdren, Gronning, Lynndyl, Mr. and Mrs. Ravmond A. Peterson, of Lima, and Mr. and Mrs. Montana, Fay . SP4r'notable event of the day was longdistance telephone call from !Lee daughters, each in different Mes and all on wire at the same ,ime Mrs. Esther Lauber, in San Francisco, Mrs. Erma Davenport, City, and Mrs. Louise in Kansas Marsh, in the hospital at Gooding, Idaho, all sang "Happy Birthday" to their father and visited with him and each other over the four-wa- y connection. Bowen Family Holds Reunion The family of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. F. Bowen met at the old home, now the home of James M. Bowen of Spanish Fork, recently, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of. their father. Those pres- ents were Mr. and Mrs. George S. Boyack, of Salt Lake City; George A. Bowen and Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Bowen of Ogden; Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Bowen of West Jordan. Grand-children were Mr. and Mrs. James Williams and Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Bowen, all of Spanish Fork. A del-icious dinner was served. Mrs. Boy-ack read the history of their father and the family enjoyed a very pleasant reunion. Mr. and Mrs. Boyack, Deltans for many years, write how they enjoy visits from their Delta fri-ends, and invite them all to call on them at 972 Hollywood Ave., when in Salt Lake City. Itridgadiers Are Entertained Mrs. Mary Hunsaker was hostess to the Bridgadiers for their club meeting Thursday night. Present, were Nona Chesley, Norma Pear-son, Liz Pace, Callie Morrison, Verna Walch, Athena Cook, Betty Day, Lois Hinckley, club members, and Lucille Stapley, La Vonne Morrison, Deonna Black, Helen Wanda Beckwith, Rayda Knight, Knight and Amelia Cole, guests. Dinner was served at 8 p.m., with Mr. and Mrs. Hatch Farnsworth of the City cafe, catering. Bridge was played later with high score awards going to Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Chesley, and a consolation for low. to Mrs. Day. Bill Mortensen was taken to Salt Lake City last week to th Veterans hospital for medical treatment. His father J. R. Mortensen, made the trip with him, and on Sunday his mother, and wife, Mrs. Leah Mor-tensen, and Mr. and Mrs. Ward Spendlove drove to Salt Lake to visit him. Mrs. Mortensen returned to Delta Tuesday, and says Bill will be sent later to the veterans' hospital at Sheridan, Wyoming, Mrs. Marianne Knox returned duri-ng last week from a trip to Los : Angeles. Recruit James Eugene Stephen-- i son, with the U. S. army at Fort Bliss, Texas, has arrived home for a furlough to visit his mother, Mrs. Lucille Stephenson. Grant Ekins of Provo was in town Tuesday on business for the U. S. Rock Wool company. Mrs. W. H. Pace returned to Delta Monday from a stay of two months in Long Beach, California, and the past few weeks in St. Seorge. Pre-sent were Alta Ashby, Evelyn Rob-iso- n, Arvetta Nickle, Marjorie Gard ner, Claire Stephenson, Harriet n, Margaret Jensen, Leona Prest wich, Shirley Christensen, Mary Moody, and Mary Wright, with guests, Virginia Lyman and Leona Works. Mrs. Prestwich had charge of the program that night, which included music and a reading. Taking part on the program was the Delta high school sextet, Kent Prestwich, Kenneth Fullmer, Winston Christen sen, Lila Sampson, Bonnie Black and Cherie Hannifan, who sang followed by a number by the girls trio. Norma Kimber gave a read-ing, Kent Prestwich sang a solo, Joyce Terry a solo, and Laure And-erson, a piano solo, her own com-position. Light refreshments were served later. March 28, Lenore Gardner was hostess for the club meeting, with Arvetta Nickle in charge of the program. Gardening was the topic that night, with Mrs. Ruth Bishop giving a talk. Members present were those listed above, and Carol Schlappi. Guest were Barbara Spendlove, and Ruby Vodak. Light refreshments were served after the program. where there is the equipment need ed in his care. His mother is re-maining in Salt Lake City for a visit with another son, Clair Mort-ensen, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Frank S. Beckwith and Mrs. Mary S. Beckwith drove to Milford Sunday afternoon and returned that same night. |
