Guests were Ella Black and Lemira Bishop. High score at Rook that day was held by Mrs. Sanford. Annie Leavitt, vice chairman, and Mrs. Jo Pratt, secretary, recently attended a Red Cross planning convention in Salt Lake City. Executives boards from the state were there, and topics stressed were Home Service, First Aid, Water Safety, Public Relations and Fund Campaign. Oak City MAE H. SHIPLEY The Sunday school conducted the evening services Sunday eve-ning It was in commemoration ot the first centennial of the Sunday school. All past superintendents were present in person or a pic-ture. Miss Geniel Shipley and Jos. L Anderson were the speakers. n Supt. Dwain Finlinson and Bishop Finlinson spoke. Musical numbers weer given by a group of singers under the direction of Q. Dutson. A temple trip was made last week by Mr. and Mrs. Reed Lovell, Lorenzo Lovell, Mr. and Mrs. Jos. L Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Soren Anderson, Mrs. Eliza Anderson, Mrs Elva Finlinson, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Shipley, and Miss Barbara Anderson. Miss Anderson left Sun-day for the mission home at Salt Lake City, and will soon leave for a mission in California. Friday, Dec. 2, the Lovell family held a birthday party in honor of Lorenzo Lovell's seventy-secon- d birthday at the family residence. At Mr. and Mrs. James Ander-son's home a birthday party was held for Wendell Dutson. The young people present enjoyed the evening. The weekly fireside chat was held after Sunday services at the home of Miss Wilma Wixom. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Adams were special guests. Mrs. Adams gave a evry interesting book review. Those that visited Salt Lake this week were Mrs. Myrtle Lovell and children, Clead and Afton, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Orrin Allred and Reed Talbot. Mrs. Clara Talbot visited a few days in Oak City. She win visu. in Clearfield with her daughter, Clara and family. The Mutual presented two one-a- ct plays Tuesday evening. Verl Jacobson is directing the two groups. The weekly picture show each Wednesday evening is largely at-tended. Most pictures are very fine entertainment for Oak City. David Mylon, makeup artist pre-sented a lyceum for the pleasure of the HHS studentbody on Dec. 1. The unique feature of the program was the applying, in front of the audience, of makeup and costumes to portray different people. His character imitations of Tom Saw-yea- r, old men and Rip Van Wink-le were voted excellent, while he added the personal touch by us-ing students names in the portray-al of a glamorous movie sar. LYNNitYL BY MARY TQHNSON Mr. and Mrs. Louis Overson and daughter, Orlene, drove to Ely for the funeral of Lester Overson, a cousin of Louis. While there they visited other relatives, then drove to Lund to see their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Nephi Schwab, where Orlene remained for an extended visit with her sis-ter. Tuesday evening in Mutual the Junior Girls held their tying of the Rose Bouquet. Junior Girls are Marilyn Hayes, Annette Smith, Vel da Sheriff, Connie Johnson, Rober-ta Nielson, LaRae Greathouse, Crystal Nielson and their leader, Guyla Wilcox. Each rendered a part on the program. Mrs. Tressa Terry visited Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Terry and family Tuesday, returning to Cedar City Wednesday. Bishop and Mrs. Clead Nielson and Allan were Nephi visitors on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Bowers and family spent several days in Salt Lake City last week. Those attending the funeral for Mrs. Lutie Watts in Springville Thursday were Mr. and Mrs. Irving Nielson, Bishop and Mrs. Clead Nielson, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nielson, Mrs. Mary Johnson, Mrs. Gladys Banks, Earl Greathouse, Jeff Fin-linson and Mrs. Emma Nielson of Leamington. Mr. and Mrs. Irving Nielson visit ed in Provo with Lucille's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Ivie and Mrs. Gladys Banks called on Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Ivie. Mr and Mrs. Goldie Ivie are very happy over the arrival of a little new daughter born Dec. 2, 1949. All are reported getting nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Irving Whatcott visited in Logan with Mr. and Mrs. Clemouth Whatcott and family, also Mrs. Alice Spillman and fam-ily over the weekend, returning home Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Newell Howlett. Mrs. Will Rasmussen of Fillmore is here visiting for a few days with her daughter, Mrs. Eddie Dut-son. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hayes spent Sunday in Lehi with Mrs. Hayes' parents. Faile Huddleston spent the week end at home. Mrs. Laura Bradfield and Mrs. Opal Lambright were Nephi visit-ors Monday. Jay Bradfield is suf-fering with the flu. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Tolbert of Los Angeles visited Mr. and Mrs. John Talbot here last week. They were ; called to Nephi by the daeth of Mrs. Talbot's father, i Mr. and Mrs. G. Hoover are mov ing to Delta. Mr. Hoover has been operator here but is now stationed ' at Delta. : Miss Gladys Banks was home from school this weekend. The Sunday school was in charge of the services Sunday evening. A very good program was carried out under the direction of Supt. Herb-ert Abegglen.Talks were given by Phil Nielson, Bishop Nielson and j Herbert Abegglen. Following the church services a fireside chat was held at the home of Roberta Niel- - J son. He was elected president of the organization in the election, and also was awarded first prize for the best work done in 1949. A great deal of enthusiasm was shown in the meeting, with the largest attendance in years of local stone fanciers. A public exhibit of their work was held at the Civic Center. Besides the award to Mr. Dowse, first place in ornaments went to Mrs. Geraldine Hamilton, slabs and Jewelry to Ken Stewart, and cabachons to Helmut Wachs. Among the slab collections were dinoraur bones native to the state. Mr. Dowse is a former resident of Delta and a brother-in-la- of Bert Sorensen.
