Beckwith and Frank Beckwith Frank Beckwith -- - Editor Frank S. Beckwith, Business Manager Entered as second class matter at the Postoffice at Delta, Utah, under the Act of Congress, March 3, 1879 Family Party Honors Father P. T. Black celebrated another birthday on April 5, and his child-ren and grandchildren marked the day with a family party. During the afternoon they called at Mr. Black's home in Delta, with best wishes and birthday gifts. That evening Mr. and Mrs. Le Grande Black entertained the family at din ner with their father as guest of honor. Present were Mrs. P. T. Black and Mr. Black's sons and wives, Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Black, Mr. and Mrs. Nels Black, Mr. and Mrs. Golden Black, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Black, Mr. and Mrs. Lucian Black and Mr. and Mrs. Le Grande Black, His daughters, Mrs. Lillis Larson, Salt Lake, and Mrs. Lora Skidmore, Martinez Cal., unable to be present, sent their father birth-- . day greetings. Anthony E. Stephenson went to Brigham City this week to visit his daughter, Mrs. Ina Larson. She is in the hospital there recovering from an operation. Chatter Box Dear Suzy, I am rather surprised that our local men have such an appear-ance of hayseeds and country yok-els, but they must do. Win Walker and Frank Roberts went to Los Angeles lately and in getting spru-ced up for City life decided on a shoe shine each. They asked the boot black to give them the works and he did. When it came time to pay their bill the boot black char-ged them $1.75 each. They paid the bill without a murmur feeling badly that they had been takn in on such a ruse. At least Winn thought he was tak-en in, but I am not so sure. Winn generally walks around with at least a good load of manure on his feet and if he was in his usual state there is no question but that the boot black had to get a truck to take the load away. Trucks do not come easy these days and what with having to do all the draying and such, I think the two men ought to send a little exra to the shoe shiner because of his trouble. Another case of looks being de-ceiving comes from Ruby Bunker and her recent appearance in the nightlife of Las Vegas. Ruby had gone down to Las Vegas to make sure that she became a grand-mother in a fitting fashion, which she did. To celebrate the happy event Ruby and her w start to make a tour of the joints in Las Vegas. The first place they got into was the Golden Nugget and as Ruby was lifting her first drink (root beer) to her lips a big burly bouncer came up and took It out. of he rhand saying " we don't allow girls under 18 in this place, so will you and your boy friend please scram." Ruby tried to explain that she was over 18,' that she was a grandmother, and that the man with her was not her boy friend, but her The bouncer looked at her with a jaundiced eye listening to her story and when Oasis Mrs- - La Veda Bishop Miss Verda Anderson is home after spending the winter in Ore., to visit a few weeks with her mother, Mrs. Jensene Anderson, and Cal., Those who made the excursion to the Manti Temple Friday were Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Memmott, Mrs. Betsy Skeem, Mrs. Annie Skeem, Mrs. Hilda Gillen and Mrs. Erma Styler. Mrs. Styler remained to visit at Ephraim until Sunday when Mr. Styler drove over to bring her home. High Councilman Willis Dutson and Esdras Finlinson were speak-ers at sacrament meeting Sunday night. They had with them the girls" trio, Misses Anderson, Tal-bot and Christensen, who sang two numbers. Mis Wilma Wixom was their accompanist. Mrs. Clark Bishop visited in Salt Lake from Monday to Thursday of last week. Friday morning she and Mr. Bishop and Mr. and Mrs. J. Layton Bishop left to drive to Cedar City. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Bishop here, and at-tended the BAC opera that night. Saturday they aU visited Zion Can yon. Mr. and Mrs. Norval Christensen are sporting a new red pick-u-p. And Leo Day is driving a new car. The Primary children held an Easter picnic Tuesday at the fair grounds. They played games, hid eggs and searched for them, and ate lunch. Miss Elva Webb who is attend-ing the BAC spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Les Webb.A friend, Miss Romelle Christ ensen, of Panguitch, accompanied her. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Webb, of Tooele, and baby Catherine, were visitors over the weekend, with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Les Webb. They attended the Hinckley ward reunion Saturday. Elder David Bishop, serving in the Western States mision, with headquarters at Sheridan, Wyo., writes his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bishop, that he is enjoying his work. He had had several visits with William Mortensen, who is in the Veteran's hospital there. He says Bill, is much improved, and has high hopes of coming home soon. Mrs. Ed Christensen, Mrs. Kelley Hawley and Mrs. Peter H. Peterson spent a day this week in Fillmore to sew at a quilting bee. she completed remarked, "lady a story like yours proves you have had one too many already, so you must leave anyway."' Now Ruby is not one to look upon the wine when it is red, but she says'" if a drink makes you feel as young and giddy as a grandmother being mistaken for a girl under 18, there must be something to this drinking business after all." Euby spent the rest of her time in Las Ve'gas walking on clouds, smirking in the mirror and berating her daughter who had just become a mother, for loking so old. Now she wants to compete with the grandmother of 27 who has been featured in the news lately. Ruby admits being slightly over 27, but she says she must look, and she knows she feels younger than 18. She has proof of being mistaken for younger than 18, and she says when that happens, " you also feel that way." I wish I had something to make me feel less fair, fat and fortyish. It was only two months ago that we were wondering how to were using during the light cool get money to pay for the oil we speel we had. Now we are wondering when we will have to turn on the air conditioners. Time flies for eevryone by Ruby Bunker, Toots.
