Black of Delta. In the backgroud are the two officials of the game played at Milford. Mliford won the game 44-3- and now has possession of the tro-phy. Delta won the first en-counter earlier in the season. The trophy goes permanently to the school winning the most games between the two teams in the next five years. Mrs. Maud Johnson spent a cou-ple' of weeks in Ogdn with her daughter, Varda, who was seriously injured in an car accident, break-ing her jaw bone in three places. She returned home last week. Sunday Mrs. Johnson and her daughter and husband, Bishop and Mrs. Burnis Finlinson from Oak City drove to Ogden ta see Varda. She is improving and is out of the hos-- i pital. Mr. and Mrs. John Anderson from Provo spent a few days in Learning ton visiting with relatives. Mr. M. E. Dutson came from Salt Lake for a few days. He has spent the past month up there with his wife who has been in the hos-- , pital with a broken leg. Mrs. Dut-son is improving and is now at her daughters home. Mr. and Mrs. Don Anderson br-ought his mother, Mrs. Essie And- erson home from Provo where she spent the past month visiting with her children. Mrs. Fay Fielding has been in Orem to spend a few days with her parents. ' Marian Nielson just received a flashy new red 1949 Ford . Don Williams from Tooele and Rex Chase from Nephi spent the week end at the Charlie Williams home. Leamington Mrs. Leonard Dutson The speakers for Sunday night meeting were Floyd Schlappi and his father and Helen Watson. Music was furnished by Delta young peo-ple. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Nielson took his mother to Salt Lake last Satur-day for medical aid. She has been very ill . Mr. Nielson and family returned Sunday. The Farewell party that was held in Scipio last week was for Dav-id Quornburg instead of his- - bro-ther Don. He is leaving for the navy. Mrs. Dellla King children from TOD Park have been visiting in Leamington with relatives for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Dene Dutson and son Monty from Holliday and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Dutson and son, Bryan, from Provo, visited over the weekend with her parents and sister Arlene and hasband, who just recently moved to Utah. Mrs. Jane Williams spent a cou-ple of days visiting in Fillmore with her son, Lee and family. Lee drove his mother home Sunday. Mrs. Raymond Jackson and dau-ghter, Joan spent Sunday here visit ing with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. I Fred Nielson. j Birthdays Are Celebrated A family dinner party held Sun-day at the home of Mr. and Mrs Lorenzo Sampson celebrated two birthdays. Mr. Sampson was 72 years old Feb. 28, and their daugh-ter, Lila Mae, was 16 that same day. Home for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Don Webb, and fam-ily, from Beaver, and Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton McCullough, Mr. and Mrs Cecil Ross, and Clark Cook, and their families. Their son, Doyle Sam pson, athletic coach at the high school at Hobbs, New Mexico, wrote home, and told of that school's successful basketball season, win-ning all their games.But now, when his team goes to the tournament Doyle was unable to go with them,' as he has the mumps. Is Hostess To IZridgadiers Mrs. Athena Cook was hostess to the Bridgadiers at their meet-ing Thursday. Dinner was served at 8, and present were Liz Pace, Nona Chesley, Merlene Callister, Mary Hunsaker, Callie Morrison Bet ty Lay, Lois Hinckley, and Norma Pearson, club members, and Helen Baker, Wanda Beckwith, Loa Black and Mrs. Mary Beckwith, guests. Af ter dinner bridge was played, and high score awards made to Mrs. Wanda Beckwith and Mrs. Hinck-ley, while Mrs. Black received low. Elections were held that night, and new club officers are Mrs. Callist-te- r, president, Mrs. Hunsaker, vice president, and Mrs. Pace secretary. Clair Gardner, seaman first class, U. S. Navy Air Corps., left Delta last Thursday after a week at .home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clair F. Gardner. He had jbeen in Tennessee, and went on to iSan Diego, and expects sea duty soon. Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Moody return-ed to Delta Sunday after a week spent in California. They visited their daughters, Mrs. Virginia Yundt and Mrs. Marjorie Burr at Burbank, . and Mr. and Mrs. Garn Moody at Burbank. E. L. Moody went to Payson Sunday to take his tw'o-ye- old son, Ralph, to the hospital. The boy had surgery Monday morning and will return home later in the week. Wilford B. Hilton, who has been in Salt Lake City for medical care, was home for the weekend. He re-turned to the city Tuesday, and will be in the hospital Thursday for a major operation. Mr. and Mrs. Fay Walker of Salt Lake City, are announcing the birth of a son at the Holy Cross hospital Sunday, Feb. 27. The new baby is another grandchild for Mr. and Mrs. Will Walker and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bishop of .Delta. He is the sixth child for Mr. and Mrs. Walker and second son. Between him and ' his older brother, were four sisters, '.-- the youngest 7 years old. She is n visiting in Delta for a month with ' her grandparents. Mrs. Merlin Christensen went to Provo Sunday to visit her brother ' and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Bishop. I Mrs. Sepha Robison and daugh-- I ter, Sharon, left Delta Friday for Bakersfield, California, where they i will visit Mr. and Mrs. Ward Rob- - ison. home. Sunday Margaret Smith, Janeane Simpson, Rex Chase of Nephi and Don Williams went to Fillmore and enjoyed dinner with Mrs. and Mr. Lee Williams. Mr. and Mrs. Gavin Weir will leave Monday for Crest line where he will work for a while. Monday Mr. and Mrs. Ray Clark went to Provo and visited Mr. and Mrs. Don James and returned Tues-'da- y bringing little Chad James with them for a visit . Friday Mrs. Effie Allen and Ruby Mrs. Frank Geriet were Delta visit-ors. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Roper were Nephi visitors Saturday. Mrs. Tressa Terry came up from Cedar City to visit her daughter, Mrs: Marilyn Black, and family of Deseret. They all spent Sunday af-ter noon at the William Coleman home. Mr. and Mrs. Junius Anderson are very happy over the arrival of their daughter born Sunday. Junius drove up from Cedar City to be with El Donna. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Simpson were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Roper, The occas-ion being Mrs. Theo Stewarts, bir-thday, other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Jay Roper and Mr. and Mrs." Grayson Roper. A very delicious dinner was served. Monday Mr. and Mrs. Jim Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Simpson and Nor-ma Majers took Steven to Nephi and then on to the Payson hospital because he had an infection in" his face that remained until Friday and spent Saturday in Provo with her husband. Mr. C. E. Simpson and Mel Majers. brought them his family for a few days. Lyle Johnson came home Sunday 1 returning to Provo Monday. I Mrs. Ruth Bowers has had her I mother visiting her. and boys visited in Provo Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Ogden. Mr. Reeve Richardson and daugh ter, Iris, of Nephi, spent Sunday afternoon visiting in Lynndyl with Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Freer. They were former residents of Lynndyl. Mrs. Lyle Johnson and Ross, returned from Los Angeles after a few days visit with her daughter, Cloreane, also her mother, and sis-ters, Hazel, who has been quite ill is much improved. A number of townspeople at-tended the ballgame Friday night. Mrs. Jean Ashby and Mrs. Julia Cherrington of Springville spent the day Saturday visiting Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nielson and family. Mrs. Ash-b- y had her arm broken several months ago, but is able to use it again now. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ashby and children visited at the Bishop Niel-son home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Vivian Dearden, Blanche Yersin and Mollie Gonder spent Wednesday in Ely, Nevada, shopping. First time out since Christmas. Mrs. Chester Wheeler and infant son, Darwin Chester, who was born at the White Pine hospital, in Ely, Nevada, Feb. 16, returned home on Tuesday. ' Earl Yersin made a trip to Delta Wednesday. Visited Doc Stains and returned with a load of fuel. Other than a few bruises here and there, obtained while trying to stay on the seat between Delta and Garri-iso-he made the trip OK. Ladd and Ned Davies, high school students of Millard high are home for a few days to help their fath-ers, Bill and Elmer Davies, with the cattle. Cecil Rowley, in charge of the state road equipment has made the road passable from Garrison to the county line, with the aid of the Young Brothers and their cat. This road has been closed the greater part of January and February, Mrs. S. Ira Jensen, who has been .quite ill is in Ely, Nevada, for med-ical attention. The people of Garrison will be quite happy when the mail can get back to schedule. We are still getting January mail. Mail drivers Leo and Daisy Rowley have spent a good many hours out in the sub-zer- o weather working to get our malls through. Winfred Jensen and Fay Framp-to- n from Fillmore, were in town this week making plans for the consttruction of a couple of cot- - tages for the Dearden Brothers. |
