Show ADVICE GIVEN TO PARENTS BY COL. HASBRQUGK Salt Lake. Sept. 12. Col. Alfred Hasbrouck, commanding Fort Doug-Ins, Doug-Ins, says mothers should not forget that their daughters who keep company com-pany with soldiers should bo chaperoned, chaper-oned, and proprieties should not be overlooked any moro than with young men who aro not in uniform. Crowds of young women visit the post, the colonel says, and thero Is no telling who are and who are not relatives of tho soldiers. While strongly Indorsing In-dorsing tho ndvlco that mothers should at all times know whero their daughters aro, he maintains that It Is unfair to say that soldiers aro worso than civilians. "Tho men at Fort Douglas," ho says, "will average aver-age up with any other crowd of men, either civilians or military. Tho garrison Is mado up of men who ars from tho best families of tho United States. They aro here from patriotic patriot-ic motives and It Is an unjust thing to pick out a few that do forget their duty and brand tho whole army by thoso that overstep, for there aro men In every walk of life who aro not Ideal." |
