Show OGDEN PEOPLE WANT TO BE OURJRIENDS Referring to the proposed road from Ogden, via Beaver and Blacksmith Black-smith Fork, to Bear Lake, of which reference has already been made In this paper, Tho Ogden Examiner has tho following to say In a recent Issue: Short -Sight nines'), Tho Examiner doubts ttio wisdom wis-dom of the movement now under way to build and maintain a highway to Bear Lako by tho way of Ogden canyon, through Beaver canyon to Blacksmith Fork and thenco to Bear Lake. To say nothing of tho cost of construction and maintenance of such a road wo should consider consid-er first the claims of our very good neighbors on tho north. I Tho pooplo of Box Elder county I havo, at great expense, constructed con-structed ono of tho best highways high-ways in tho state, from tho I northern boundary of Weber I county to the Cache county lino. Cache county maintains a good highway through Its fertile val-J val-J ley, passing through Its prosperous prosper-ous towns to Logan, nnd lately has," at great expense, put Into good condition a road through Logan canyon p tHe shores of Dear Lake, ono of tho greatest beauty spots In tho entlro west. An interurban line, backed by Ogden capital, goes through all of thin country with tho exception excep-tion of Logan canyon. Ogdon enjoys a splendid trade throughout through-out this territory becauso of theso conditions. To now propose a new routa which, because of its being shorter, short-er, would undoubtedly take considerable con-siderable travel by motorists and tourists and consequently deprive our friends of the benefits bene-fits of this travel, would, without with-out doubt causo considerable feeling nnd resentment by our neighbors on tho north. We trust that our merchants and business men will curb nny short-sighted policy that would causo a disturbance of tho friendly trade conditions which wo now enjoy with our good friends of Box Elder nnd Cacho counties, and which would bo viewed by them as an unfriendly movement. |
