Show STRIKE HOLDS UP FREIGHT ON FIVE RAILROADS Kansas City, Sept. 10. The strike of freight handlers practically had stopped local freight traffic on five railroads here tonight and was threatening threat-ening to interfere with a sixth. As a result of tho walkout today of approximately 500 freight handlers, handl-ers, three roads, tho Chicago & Alton, Rock Island nnd Missouri, Knnsas & Texas, wero doing but little business and the Wabash nnd the Missouri Pacific Pa-cific admitted a complete tleup. W. H. Herblg, local agent of the Rock Island, said tonight that the roads were waiting to hear tho strikers' strik-ers' demands beforo starting negotiations, negoti-ations, no demands yet having been presented. The strike of 500 employes of Wilson Wil-son & Co. and the arrival of Patrick F. QUI, representing the conciliation bureau of tha department of labor, wore tho only developments in tho strike of somo 3000 packing house workers In Kansas City, Kan. Unless thero Is a prospect of settlement settle-ment tomorrow, Fred Robertson, United States district attorney of Kansas, announced tontgnt that ho would forward to Secretary Baker of the department tho request of several of tho packing plants that troops Intervene In-tervene In tho strike.
