Show A CONTEST THAT UTAH SHOULD WIN Last year Wyoming won the pennant pen-nant awarded each year to the state buying tho largest number of Ued Cross Christmas Seals In proportion to the population. The people of that state bought more than two nnd two thirds seals for each inhabitant. Utah last year bought a little less than one seal per person. This year Utah Is a pennant contended. We aro a prosperous state, our people aro broad minded, generous nnd public spirited.. The cause Is one that appeals ap-peals strongly to every well informed patriotic citizen.. War Increases tuberculosis. We have learned from the cxperenco of Europe and Canada that we must conquer tuberculosos or It will conquer con-quer us. The Hod Cross Seals help finance this war. The Hed Cross Seal drive Is, therefore, a cause In which every man, woman and child In our state Is vitally Interested. To stimulate Interest In this campaign cam-paign the National Tuberculosis Society So-ciety each year awards penuants to tho states and cities selling the largest larg-est number of seals per capita. The states aro divided into three classes, according to population. Class A Includes In-cludes tho states with a population of less than ono and a quarter million. mil-lion. Last year Wyoming sold the largest number of seals in proportion to Its population, 2.68 seals per capita, cap-ita, and won the pennnnt for that class. Utah was eleventh, with 0.98 seals per capita. However, the year before we were thirteenth In the list with only 0.42 per capita to our credit. cred-it. This year we bhould sell at least threo seals per inhabitant and beat our neighbor's splendid record. Cities and towns are divided Into ten classes, according to population. Class 1. Includes all towns with a population under six hundred, and class 10 includes cities with a population popu-lation of over one million. Last year Thornburg, Pennsylvania, won the pennant In class 1, with more than thirty seals per Inhabitant. Hershey, Pennsylvania, won the pennant for class 2, with a sale of more than beventy-elght seals per Inhabitant. In addition, the National Association Associa-tion will give this year a certificate of commendation to every community selling six seals or more per capita. Thus, every city and town In Utah has a chanco to win national proml-nenco proml-nenco by Its generosity and public spirit. Get busy and sell tho seals and win a pennant for Utah and for your city.
