Show FAREWELL EXTENDED TO BOYS WHO LEAVE FOR TRAINING CAMP The farewell dinner given to tho members of tbo second contingent from Cacho county nt Munlock's, Wednpsday evening, was ono of the most Impressive occasions ever held In tho city. All but three of tho contingent con-tingent and two special guests wero present. President E. H. Owen, chairman, presided and In behalf of tho Commercial club and the people of Logan and tho county, extended a hearty welcome to thoso present. Mayor Hoy Ilullen, Dr. E. G. Peterson, Pet-erson, Dr. Wm. U. Parkinson, and Dr. C. N. Jenson, In their talks and advice, ad-vice, surely left strong Impressions that will remain with tho boys as long as they live. Mayor IJullen said that these boy3 represent tbo flower of tho country and they should feel congratulate 1 becauso they had been chosen to represent rep-resent this great nation. There aro two great armies. One nt the front and In training, and tho other at homo to provldo the supplies. Work should be tbo watchword. Logan City wishes you God speed and success. suc-cess. Dr. E. G. Peterson, In his remarks, stated that this was a day nbovo all days for tho boys. Men havo not been so honored slnco the days of tho revolution, and life nnd human effort has not been so appreciated. Wo point back with prldo to tho men of the revolution. So It will bo with you men. This is a war of selective service, and each ono has an Important Import-ant duty to perform. It is a citizens' citi-zens' war. My mind is filled with tho pictures of tho homes you aro leaving. They will bo made desolato while your tlmo will bo interesting testing your abilities with tho manhood man-hood of other states. Tbo mother's lot will bo silent suffering. This Is a holy war and you nro ministers of righteousness. Tho German peoplo aro peace loving lov-ing and much to bo admired, but tbo German government Is tho most Iniquitous and tcrriblo monster In tho world and should bo driven from tho earth. It Is a holy cause, and we must bo willing to make a sacrifice sac-rifice to mako America safer for our children. American citizenship U worth fighting for. Tho men from Utah will carry cleanliness, virtuo, and Integrity with them. Dr. Parkinson gavo very good fatherly advlco to tho boys. He asked them to como back clean with manhood and Americanism nnd bo able to say to mother, "I am as clean ns when I left." Havo clean minds. "As a man thinketh, so ho Is." Ho stated that ho had examined 2S3 men from Cache county nnd had never seen finer men grace tbo earth. No one was unclean. Many dangers will beset your paths, but keep your thoughts clean and with a strong determination de-termination you will master over self. Dr. C. N. Jenson advised tbo men to pear no malice to tho German peoplo peo-plo nor toward any man, ns this Is a war of principle. This world Is too small for two diverse systems of government. The German government govern-ment must bo crushed, ns It Is not conductive to humnn liberty. This Is not a war of armies but a war of men. Thero nre no massed formations. forma-tions. Clean men will prevail. There Is tho finest motherhood and fatherhood In tho world back of you. You can be proud of your heritage. We will all pray and work for you.
