Show I RICHMOND DEPARTMENT News From the Lively Town up North - Richmond, Sept 4. Another week crowded with social functions, 1ms passed and again our Richmond news department shall consist mainly of accounts of trousseau teas, showers, weddings and parties of various kinds. First we may mention the trousseau trous-seau tea given by Mrs. Joseph S. Allen Al-len of Cove In honor of her daughter Alice, who becomes Mrs. Earl Tlten-sor Tlten-sor noxt Wednesday. About twenty guests wero present to enjoy the hospitality hos-pitality of the Allen family und also, to view tho beautiful trousseau of the bride to bo. Tho parlor was artistically ar-tistically decorated with golden glow, golden rod and sun flowers, and the illnlng room with pink ond white asters. as-ters. A most delicious luncheon was served. Thoso present from Richmond were Mrs. C. Z. Harris, Mrs. William Wil-liam Harris, and Mrs. C, A. Larson, Next In order may be mentioned tho shower given Mrs. Maud Stoddard, last Friday. The Indies presented her with an electric perculator and also al-so some nice china cups and saucers. sauc-ers. Twenty Indies were there to partake par-take of refreshments served by Mrs. Stoddard. As special guests mny be mentioned Mrs. Emma Telford and daughter Nell, of Lowistou. Tuesday, Mrs. Flora Christopher-son Christopher-son was pleasantly surprised by a number of her relatives und Intimate friends, it being her 40th birthday. They brought picnic and many useful presents. Mrs. ChrlstofTerson having been an Invalid through rheumatism, rheu-matism, for many ears is much pleased with these occasional visits of sympathising friends to cheer her "P. Mrs. Victoria Erlckson served after af-ter dinner coffee to n number of her friends, Tuesday afternoon. A mobt pleasant tlmo was spent over the tea cups. Monday evening the boys of the .lu-venllo .lu-venllo Band surprised Perry I'cart, ono of tho band members. Watermelons Watermel-ons and ico cream and other goodies that boys like, wero served by Mra. Peart, added considerably to the pleasure of the event. Thursday evening Miss Jessto Hendricks Hen-dricks entertained the M. I. A. officers offic-ers about 17 in number. They presented pre-sented liorwlth some beautiful silver ware. Saturday evening her sewing pupils pup-ils of the eighth grade, from last school season, were entertained at her homo and a most pleasant evening even-ing was spent. Refreshments were served by Mies Hendricks on both occasions. Next Thursday Miss Jessie and Mr. C. H. Anderson of Millard county, will bo united In marrlago in tho Salt Lake Temple. After that they will take a wedding tour through tho southern part of Utah, and will return re-turn to locato In the homo vacated by Mr. and Mrs. Lockhart. Mr. Anderson An-derson will ngaln resume his position as principal of the Richmond high school. MIbs Hendricks is u prominent promi-nent young lady of our community nnd wo are much pleased to know that Mr. Anderson and his wlfo to bo, will remain In her homo town. The Home Economics Association will meet In tho club room in tho library building Tuesday ovonlng at S o'clock. All tho members aro requested re-quested to bo present. Noxt Thursday nt 2 p. m. tho Daughters of tho Pioneers will meet In tho Relic Hall, tho occasion being their nnnual banquet. Saturday evening n collision of freight cars occurred on the Interur-ban Interur-ban road about two blocks north et tho city. Tho two colliding cars wero badly smnshed up, hut no ono was hurt. Mrs. Hattlo Chrlstensen has just returned from Salt Lako City with a beautiful supply of fall' hats and coats. Mr. A. A. Thomas and family havo sj.'nt about ono week in Salt Lake. Tho many friends of Mrs. Lydla Mathews will be pleased to know that her health Is somewhat Improved and war. seen driving about In a car last Friday. Saturday she was motored to Smlthfleld by Mr. R. Pack. Sho expects to visit there, with her slstor Tcmpy Melklo for about two weeks. Mr. Sam Nelson and wlfo of Randolph Ran-dolph and also Eliza Cahoon of Woods Cros'd nro guests of Mr. and Mrs. Parley Nelson. Mr. William Jonas returned last week from a 27 months mission to the Northern States. Ho Is looking and feeling lino. Ho has accepted tho principals!!! Pt n school in Wyoming near Yellowstone Pork, and will leave for that place In ,the, noar future Miss Mary Walmont has been ill during thq last week and symptoms of typhoid fever aro noticeable. ' Also Mrs. Knrrcn Stens nas been confined to her bed during tho past I week. Mr. John Omansen met his wife In Salt Like city last Friday and thoy arrived here In the afternoon, i Their looms aro prepared to live in j at the home of Mr. C. J. Olson. Rainoy, hao Just returned from an oxtenslvo trip through tlio Snake rlv-1 er country On their return home they were the guests at tho home of Mrs. Sedonla Stevens of Bear Lake j and report a most pleasant visit with ' them as well as an enjoyable trip I throughout, Mr. ManguB Slowertson's two year old son Leroy, fell on a pleco of glass ( last Tuesday and had his hand ery badly cut. Dr. Adamsou cleaned and dressed tho wound. j Mr. Alma Merrill and wlfo havo gone to Blue Creek to harvest their crop. Mrs. Elna J. Merrill has gone with , her daughter and son-in-law Dr. Richards Rich-ards to Malnd, whero sho opects to visit for some tlmo. A fine son arrived at tho home of Mr. nnd Mrs. William Van Noy last Wednesday. A largo crowd w'as In attendance at tho Primary dance Friday night, ond all report a Jolly good time. Tho Literary Society will hold their meeting at tho homo of Mrs. S. W. Hendricks next Wednesday. Mr. John Johnson went to Grand Junction laet week to attend tho funeral fu-neral of his granddaughter's husband, Mr. Ashcroft. His granddaughter is well known hero ns Edith Hill. Tuberculosis Tu-berculosis was tho cause of his death. Miss. Lenora Merrill and Mrs. Clarence Clar-ence Funk, havo returned from a trip to Yellowstono Park. They report a lino trip. |
