Show The Financial Side. Knormous amounts of money are spent In our political campaigns, and It Is safe to say that In many places the largest portion of It goes into tho saloons. The worst of It Is that so little notice is taken of this state of affairs. The apathy and Indifference of good people In regard to the devastation devast-ation wrought by the liquor trafltc is enough to make angels weep, and tho enormous cost of this thing, If carefully care-fully studied and kept before the people, peo-ple, would make flic longest chapter In the history of "Frenzied Finance" that the world has ever known, while the other Ills that follow in Its train, if all recounted, would be stilllclcnt to sut the Christian world on lire with zeal lowaid the exteimlnatlon of this gigantic evil. If there were no other I side than the llnaucial side, It would be well worth our study, for the drink , bill of this country Is something awful In Its propoitlons, and the tralllc costs us more each jear than every function of every kind or government. In all the story of "Frenzied Finance" this Is the most "frenzied" of all, yet comparatively com-paratively little is said about It. Hut the question goes much deeper than the pocketbook side of it. It touches so vitally the life of the individual, the home, the church and the nation, I that It will be well for someone tocon-i tocon-i skier It from every standpoint, i When the liquor tralllc, with all the evils that lollow in lis train, is writ- ten up and exposed as thoioughly as the evils of the trusts and combines, I then the people will awake to the aw-I aw-I fulness of It. i |
