Show Franklin Flashlights. A Batch of News From The Busy Northern Town Fuanklin, Nov, .'10. On Friday evening, the 24th., the Relief Society of Franklin had a concert, picnic and dance for the bcncllt of missionatlcs out In their fields of labor. Tho concert con-cert program consisted of songs, recitations, recit-ations, speeches, etc., which were very good. After the concert they had lino picnic handed round after which they had a grand ball. There were a great many In attendance, both middle aged and young, everything went off harmoniously har-moniously and the whole proved to be a grand success, both social and financial. finan-cial. The Franklin orchestra furnished furnish-ed music free, and the society netted a nice little sum of money, which will be sent to the missionaries as aChrlst-mas aChrlst-mas gift. Great credit is due to the society and their committees for the splendid alfalr. Sister Challls, president presi-dent or the society, with her council, and all the society, render their many thanks to all who responded to tho call. All that were present enjoyed themselves them-selves very much, and a few of our aged Brethren and Sisters danced as when they did in their younger days. It seems they could not help it, because be-cause such a social feeling prevailed among the large crowd that were present. pres-ent. May God bless the Relief society and may they always have good times. On Saturday night Pros. W.C. Parkinson Park-inson and wife, Sister Nellie, came up to Franklin on a visit to their relatives. rela-tives. Sister Nellie will stay with her mother, Mrs. II. E. Nash, until after Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving day was observed hero at tho meeting house In the forenoon and a good program was rendered, after which all went home to enjoy good roast turkey that is, If they had any, Turkey was very scarce and what Micro was commanded a high price. There were lots of One fat ducks and geese for sale. Christmas goods have arrived in our stores and have been displayed to a good advantage in our store windows. Our district school is In good condition. condi-tion. Good clllclcnt teachers and excellent ex-cellent order In the school. Our Sunday school Is doing well: good attendance of teachers and pupils. The superintendents of the stake arc laboring faithfully through the stake. The health of the people is good In general, though Sister Dailies Is still bad. Her mind Is no better. i |
