Show SOCIAL EVENTS OF THE WEEK Euchre, Flinch, Marriages, Mar-riages, Etc. Serve to Enliven Society So-ciety Circles. Mrs. Scth A. Lnngton entertained at euchre Saturday afternoon. The Langton home was a bower of cut llowcis, and thu affair was one of the most delightful social events of the year. Mrs. J. E. Shepard won the first prize, an elegant handpalnted fruit dish, and Miss Florence Miner, the consolation, a dainty apron. Those present at tho event were Mesdamcs Moses Thatcher, W. B. Preston, S. J. Champ was the scene of a somewhat some-what novel social gathering, which was given last Friday afternoon by Mrs. Barrett and Mrs. Champ in honor hon-or of their old-time friends, Mrs. S. V. N. Parks and Mrs. Shorten. Tho party was composed almost exclusively ex-clusively of non-card-playing people, and the gamo was "lllnch," so arranged ar-ranged as to be "progressive." Beautiful Beaut-iful surroundings, congeniality of guests, and the charming hospitality of the hostesses combined to make this event one of the most enjoyable of tho many delightful "afternoons" of the summer. After several hours had sped away In the absorbing interest of the game, most elegant refreshments were served. serv-ed. Later, prizes for the least, as well as tho most successful contestant, were awarded. The former found Its way to Mrs. P. D. Stoops, the latter to Miss Kyle of the N. J. Academy. Miss Lottie West gave a very pleasant pleas-ant affair at her home Monday afternoon. after-noon. It was In the nature of a reunion re-union of the, students of the Cache Valley Seminary at the time Mrs. Parks was at the head of that school. The real pleasure of the occasion was the social converse between pupil and teacher, but there were such other enjoyable things as refreshments, music, etc. Those present wero Mrs. P. E. A party composed of Misses Harriett Har-riett and Alloy Martlneau, Ellle and Ella Ncbekcr, Lulu Yeates and Mayme Morroll, and Messrs. George Torgenson, Carl GurlT.Ohas. and Nells Hanson, and 0. A. Invitations arc out for the marriage of Miss RUoda Nelson to Mr. Albert Walter Bush Thursday evening Sept. 10th at the Presbyterian church. Miss Nelson Is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Nelson, and Mr. Bush Is from Malad, Idaho. Mrs. Wm. Brangham entertained Saturday afternoon In that pleasant and hospitable way that is a part of her disposition. Tho occasion was In honor of tho birthday of one of Mrs. Kate Brangham-Burns's little girls, Mrs. S. V. N. Parks and Mrs. Shorten. Quito a number of "grown-ups" wero there, and a host of little people, all of whom enjoyed the aftcrnocn very much. Mr. Henry W. Crockett and Miss Mary A. Turner will bo united In tnairlagc at the home of tho bride's parents tonight. Both are highly respected .oung folks, but of a retiring re-tiring disposition and but a few Immediate Im-mediate friends will be present at the wedding. |
