Show THE BOND ISSUE. Major Hansen states that he has not yet received notice of any decision in tho question of the legality of a bond Issue for the proposed municipal light plant. A promise from Secietary of State Hammond to the effect that that gentleman would 'phono up good news Saturday, was not carried out. Inquiry on Monday revealed the fact that Judge Bartch, who will probably deliver tho opinion, had Just returned to Salt Lake tho day before. In talking talk-ing of tho matter, the mayor spoke of Brlgham City's similar condition. Brigham voted two years ago to Install In-stall a municipal plant. The question of tho legality of a bond Issue was raised and the matter went to the Supremo court. Until a decision has been rendered, the State board, which had agreed to buy tho bonds, would advance only $12,000. Brlgham started to build the plant and put in the sjstcm of lights, and tho city has spent $8,000 extra, a total of $20,000, and Is still without a municipal munic-ipal plant. Tho decision in that city's case is still hanging lire, the same as In our own, and ocn though work has been commenced on their plant, it Is probable that Logan city will have a municipal plant as soon as Bilgham. Now that Judge Bartch has returned it is confidently expected that tho matter will bo settled shortly. |
