Show Something more than a year ago, a young man representing himself to be an agent for an accident and health Insurance company camo to this county coun-ty and wrote up a few policies with some of our citizens. One well-to-do farmer took out a policy with an Indemnity In-demnity of $10 per week for disability. A short time ago the gentleman happened hap-pened with an accident and was entitled en-titled to the benefits set forth in the policy. Upon Inquiry it was found that the money had never been forwarded for-warded to the company, and from present appearances it seems that there will bo no redress for our misguided mis-guided neighbor. The idea would naturally suggest Itself that companies com-panies should bo held responsible for the acts of their agents. Such men as mentioned in the foregoing are not regular agents of any company. Any person can get these blanks for accident ac-cident policies and solicit busincs on thdm. When the money Is forwarded for-warded to tho company the specifications specifica-tions of the agreement are carried out. But If tho money never reaches them, they know nothing of the deal whatever. We are in favor of Insurance Insur-ance and know that it Is a good thing, but in this connection we desire to emphasize the fact' that It Is better to take out Insurance with those whom you know to be thoioughly reliable. There are plenty of local agents In tho county whose Interests are Identified with the people, and why should these men be turned down and the preference prefer-ence given to strangers who take no part In the supportof our local governments. govern-ments. Parties who do business along these lines can expect no sympathy sym-pathy whatever from the people. Whcnvou Insure, do it with those j ou know, or who have good official documents recommending them to bo fully what they represent themselves them-selves to be. This Is olfeicd as a timely time-ly warning, to tho people, for their protection. |
