He said, "You are little soldiers In a great aimy; not an army of the sword and the pistol whciemen are killed, but an army that expects to do good, heal up wounds, cure the broken hearts, to battle for truth and against eil. You arc an army marching to Eternal time and not against a gicatclty, the capital of some great land. He asked the children how many of them thought they had I pretty names and how many would llko to keep their names prettj'. A multitude of little hands went up In response. "What makes, tho rose a pretty name?" asked Elder Tanner. "It Is because of the lovely flower for which the name stands. If you stand In life for sweet and beautiful things you will alwajs have a pretty name. If jou would have your names always good, keep jourself good. You ought to prize your names; there Is something in them. Names have been given jou Iso you might be known among tho children of men." If I mention a name you think of something immediately. "Now I will mention 'Abraham.' What do jou think of him? You think of something that was said of him. no was tho friend of God. Ho loved God. Wo arc tho friends of "J those we loe. The Lord said Ho """" knew Ills servant Abraham. Ho knew Abraham would teach his children to love God. I wanttc.Jl j'ou something of the Jew who has descended from Abraham. Ho loes Ills children moie than tho rest of the world does. Altd the children lov3 their parents. In their home theielstho greatest of love between them. Kerr made a few remarks. He said the work of the Sunday schools Is growing greater all the time. There Is much to give thochlldicn that is Interest-lng, Interest-lng, but what the teachers should seek Is the spirit of the Lord In presenting pre-senting this. The parents, should all be lnteicstcd In the work In order that success should be certain. Hooks should bo placed In the home for the child; the Importance of work should be taught; In fact much can be done In the home to aid the Sunday school. President Joseph Morrell said that the Immense concourse of children In the morning made a deep Impression upon him. Continuing he said: "If our hearts are toward oui children then we will see that wo teach our ollsprlng the eternal principles of the Gospel. The old idea of sowing oui wild oats Is erroneous. We should never partake of these influences If we arc workers as well as believers; we will then be prepared to do those things which arc necessary. We have learned that when the character is formed it is at that time when the children arc joung and not when wo arc old. The Impressions arc mado in jouth." He also made tho statement that the attendance of Cache Stake In the Sunday schools is below the average. Susan Y. Gates of Utah Stake then spoko for a short time. Among other things she said, "God has blessed women with Instinct by which they will know all good men or bad men when they meet them." Mrs. Evans of the Alpine Stake testified tes-tified to the goodness of God; this, she said, was her duty. "We should take the instructions which arc given to us from time to time and put them Into practice. We cannot neglect the spiritual development of our souls." Elder Rlch.uds said he had been much interested in what had been done In tho conference. "Teach our children," he said, "that which will Instill into our hcaits faith in God. Wo need to tialn our children to bo watchful and careful. The company of(angc)s is the company we should keep." Tho meeting in the evening was addressed first by Elder J. A. Wldtsoc who spoko on "what has Sunday school done forme?" It had strengthened strength-ened his testimony, It had caused him to regard and respect tho Sabbath da', it had caused him to go to tho ancient prophets, It had given him a testimony not based upon logic or argument but upon tho spirit of God.
