Show As small-pox and other contagious dlse.iscs continue to Increase, the necessity ne-cessity of a pest house becomes more apparent, and If possible the city should provide some such place. l)e-splrc l)e-splrc efforts of officials, quarantine Is seldom strictly observed and not Infrequently In-frequently are fumigations of little value. A few days ago a certain young man boarding at a home In which were several cases of small-pox was fumigated and lcrt the place. Two or three days later that same young man was himself down with the disease. In the meantime he had circulated around over the city and came Into contact with a large numbcrof people, who thus stood a chance of becoming Inoculated. This Is liable to occur at any time, but such possibilities could easily be prevented if the proper provisions pro-visions were made. The council can well afford to consider the advisability of securing a pest house. |
