The houso of Walter Nichols waa truck by tho flood. Nichols was away and his wife was awakened by the ice crashing against tho door. A few minutes later tho water commenced to flow into the bed rooms, where six children wero sleeping. Mrs. Nicholr. hurried to tho door and held It shut whllo her children escaped to an upper up-per floor. A fow moments lator sho escapod, Just boforo tho woter forcci? In the door nnd flooded tho rooms. The family remained prisoners in tho upper part ot tho houso until tho wator receded.
