Excitement was occasioned occa-sioned during tho removal of fourteen elephants which wero quartered In n building adjoining tho car barns. It was necessary to romnvo tho olephanta through door facing tho burning build-ing build-ing nnd across tho tracks between rows of burning nnd smoking cars. In ordor to accomplish thl3 safely tho four keepers took one anlmnl out at a time until tho entire herd was removed. Tho loud trumpeting of tho elephants gave rlso to a rumor that tho animals had broken looso. This rumor rapidly spread around tho city and occasioned much nlarm. |
