The regular meeting for the election of officers for the Agricultural College Womens Club was held on Monday with Mrs. Champ. Tho following olllccrs were elected for the ensuing year: President, Mrs. Fleming; Vice-president, Vice-president, Mrs. Snow;Hecordlng Secretary, Secre-tary, Mrs. Ball; corresponding secretary, secre-tary, Mrs. Langton; Treasurer, Mrs. Madison. Tho regular program was dispened with and the remainder of the afternoon spent in making arrangements ar-rangements for the entertainment to be given at the close of the club year. The excavation work for Cy. E. Napper's new building was begun Thursday. The building Is to, be erected on the site of the Squires barber bar-ber shop between the Logan Knitting Factory and the First National Bank. It will be 00 feet deep by 20 feet front and ono story high at present but constructed con-structed so that In the future It can be easily added to. Two large rooms, one fifty-five and the other thirty-five feet long will be used by Mr. Nappcr when the building is completed, one for his drug store and the other for storage. It will have a most modern front, the entrance being especially beautiful. Red pressed brick and sandstone will be the material used. Anyone not having been in Dr. Parkinson's otllcc recently would be surprised at the delightful appearance of his rooms at this time. The old Goodwin & Kceler law ofllco has been added, a doorhavlngbecn cut through the west wall, and the Dr. now has all the room that could be desired, two consultation rooms, a reception room, and an operating department. He has completely refitted the entire establishment with new carpets, furniture, fur-niture, etc., and this together with tho painting that has been dono gives his office a tone and color that is very charming. Tho Dr. takes especial pride In a fumigating closet he has recently re-cently Installed, which Is In reality and elegant piece of furniture as well as a very essential thing. W. B.Parkinson, B.Park-inson, Jr. will como to Logan about June 1st and engage in practice with his father, a fact that has probably proved an Incentive to tho very pleasant plea-sant changes that have been made. After the son has arrived and becomes familiar with tho practice, Dr. Parkinson Park-inson expects to go cast and brush up on diseases of the eye, car and throat, he having mado a specialty of the same until the advent of Dr. Gowans into this vicinity. The contract for remodelling the Z. C. M. I. corner has been awarded to Worley & Nelson of this city. Monson & Schaub have drawn up the plans and according to them the building will be in first class condition when work is completed. The lower floor which will be occupied by tho First National Bank, will be fitted up by tho first of July. Tho entrance will bo on the corner, large plate glass windows taking the plucc of the present entcrance. A stairway to the upper Hoors will bo put In from tho Main street side. Along 1st North, plate glass windows will take the place of tho present barrenness. The fixtures for tho bank will be strictly up-to-date. The vuults will be at the rear end of the room; the celling will be of steel finely finished. The second story Is to be fitted up Into olllce rooms but nothing will be dono as yet, with the third floor. Tho cost of the present pre-sent Improvements will be $0,000, but when all the plans have been carried out much moro will bo necessarily expended. ex-pended. This will, Indeed, bo a line Improvement to the business buildings build-ings of Logan and will mean much, especially to 1st North St. The corner cor-ner Is perhaps the most desirable In Logan and the First National Is to be complimented on its move. |
