As far back as wo can reach Into tho history his-tory of mankind we fyid great people, easily the equals, and often the superiors, supe-riors, of our very best In mental and moral qualities. Our good luck Is not that we are superior to them In our human material, but that we havo at our service an Immensely greater accumulation ac-cumulation of knowledge, mostly about material things. Thanks to that, we understand the lawB of nature na-ture much better than our fathers did, and that has helped us to make wonderful won-derful machines, and put them to doing, do-ing, after their fashion, what used to be done by fingers, brains and brawn, nut spiritually we got 'our highest Inspiration In-spiration 2,000 years ago, and have been trying ever since to reach up to It; and mentally, thOLsh we use better bet-ter tools, we are no bettor, surely, than Pythagoras or Arlstole or the au thor of the nook of Job and hundreds of thinkers who muBt havo long pro-ceded pro-ceded any of them.
