Show KINDS OF HAY FOR STEERS At the Kansas experiment station .J. . alfalfa hay, sorghum hay and Kaffir uuy wero compared as roughages for fattening steers. It was found that when alfalfa hay was fed it took only about six pounds of corn and cob meal to produco a pound of gain, whilo when sorghum was fed it took 11.1 pounds of corn and cob meal to ptoduco a pound of grain. Tho figures for the Kaffir ha) wero ten pounds of tho meal for a pound of gain. Experiments at other stations sta-tions lndicato that under similar conditions con-ditions it would take about nine pounds of corn and cob meal to make a pound of gain when clover and timothy tim-othy hay wero tho roughage. t m |
