Show H EARLY HOURS. H The A. C. dance at the Auditorium H showed that It is possible to get people H out to a dance at 8 o'clock If they H know they will have no opportunity H to dance after 11. Logan young people, H and many who have long ceased to bo H young, enjoy dancing so much that H they do not care to lose any part of. H the evening's pleasuro and so are will- H Ing to begin early in order to have as H long an evening as possible. To have H our dances begin early and close at 11 has always seemed to us much more H Important than the early closing of H Ice cream parlors and restaurants. H There are comparatively few who H hang about the places of refreshment H while there Is always a large crowd H which stays at a dance until the last H waltz. It Hie object of the city H fathers Is to put everyone to bed. early H it seems rather inconsistent that they H should allow one form of dissipation B after 11 and condemn others. If they H would have us off the streets and H tucked In beforo midnight, why do H they leave us any chance' to disport H ourselves In public as midnight ap- H proachesV Asa measure conducive to H good morals, sound health and ability H to work tho next day there could bo H no better requirement than to have H. all dances end at 11. Students would appear to better advantage In their classes tho next day, It such were the case, or, If tho party were given on Saturday night, the early closing would secure a large attendance of the young at Sunday school on the following morning and give married people a longer Sunday morning of quiet leisure at home. Franklin had more than one w(so saw about the value of time. "Dost thou lore life," ho was wont to say, "then do not squander time, for that Is the stuff life is made of." Late hours at night mean a squandering of the morning hour's, the most precious time of the day, . Anything which will tend to make us early risers, whether public opinion or legislation, should be welcomed wel-comed by all who have at heart the health and morals of the community. |
