Show HE KEPT A DIARY? More than one phase of Patriarch Ilallard's lire Is worthy of emulation, no doubt, but attention at-tention Is called to his thoughtfulness In keeping keep-ing a diary. Throughout his manhood Mr, Ballard jotted down dally any event of Importance Import-ance In his lire his comings and goings, new work begun and work completed, perhaps his thought on matters of public Interest, death of Intimate friends and a brier estimate or their worth as ho knew them, marked Innovations in public lire, various Incidents of pioneer lire, and such other facts as seemed to him worthy of tabulating. This diary is said to have been relied on by historians writing of Cache valley, and today at tho death of the venerable patriarch patri-arch his posterity has a splendid record or not only his own life but the lifo of the communities communi-ties In which he lived. This record Is to them well nigh priceless, and such records kept by the heads or other families would mean as much to their posterity. A few minutes dally would keep a record that would be enjoyed by the' recorder and appreciated deeplv by those who come after. Tho custom of keeping a diary might become more widespread, to no detriment detri-ment and great good. |
