Show A WORD ABOUT MC CARREY. Tiik Rki-uiilican calls attention to the fairness of Superintendent McCarrey in his advocacy ad-vocacy of the consolidation plan for the county school districts. While an enthusiast In behalf of the change, we have yet to hear of Mr. McCarrey Mc-Carrey discussing tho question in heat or passion, pas-sion, and at no time has he denied sincerity or honor of the opposition. Personally he has been opposed to debato on account of Its tendency tend-ency to appeal to' the partisanship rather than the calm reason or the people, but when asked to do so he has debated. In debate he confined himself largely to calm statements of the advantages ad-vantages or tho consolidation plan as tried elsewhere. else-where. Ills experience as head or the county school system leads him to believe that the good or the schools necessitates a change, and he urged public discussion or the matter. It was his Idea that the people should have the opportunity or discussing the proposition and hearing it discussed, and at no time has he favored any snap judgment. Whatever the ac- ' tion of tho commissioners, following the mass-meeting mass-meeting today, Superintendent McCarrey can rest assured of the people's confidence In his fairness and sincerity, and he must necessarily be pleased with tho consciousness that at no time was he undignified in his advocacy or the consolidation clause. |
