The drilling outfit is now at work on Bishop nyde's farm. Thomas Obray, of Paradise, who sustained a heavy loss by fire last week, desires to express his thanks to tho Paradise people who rendered assistance as-sistance in saving his residence property prop-erty from being burned. He says that the loss is not less than $3,000. If the mountain streams are expected ex-pected to contain fish, water should not be turned out of canals only when an officer of tho law is present. When a meeting house was about to be built at Blackfoot, Idaho, a few years ago the bishop approached Samuel J. Rich, a member of his ward, for a donation of fifty dollars. Twenty-live dollars was paid down and the remainder was to bo paid tho first time Sam went to meeting. It is needless to stato that payment has not been made. This should appeal to the farmers as being a good thing for themselves and teams hunreds of which come to Logan and stand in tho burning sun from morning morn-ing till night, Aside from tho Inhum anlty, farmers can't afford to leavo their horses out, for a good team Is tho main support of a farm. Rollins, of Paradise, called at tho office on Monday and told his sldo of the unpleasant alTalr between be-tween himself and Joseph Norris, He said that one Peterson, Norris and himself had an exclusive right to a certain stream of water, which had been used by them promiscuously. To avoid troublo he went to Peterson and suggested that turns be taken In tho use of the water, which was agreed upon, Rollins taking It tho following morning, after which Norris went to the headgato and turned It upon his own land. Missing the water, Ralllns went up to tho ditch, hot words passed, and ho avows that Norris struck first at him with a shovel. Ho dodged tho blow, and struck Norris on the head, who still tried to strike him, and he struck back at Norris, breaking his arm. Ho exonerates himself, saying that he acted In self-defense. Rollins claims that the .garnishment had nothing whatever to do with the matter. |
