Tho annual conference con-ference of the First ward was held last Sunday and was well attended by citizens from all three wards. Councilor Coun-cilor Wm. II. Maughan and several members of the High Council were present. The report given by Bishop II. F.LIlJenqulst was a very encouraging encourag-ing one In every particular. This waid's meeting house, when completed, complet-ed, will bo a great ornament to the town. Five rooms are already completed complet-ed and used for church services and the committee expects to be able to tlnish the tower during this season. Thus far the building and grounds have cost about $10,000. It probably will be remembered that the site for this church first selected was condemned after the completion of the foundation, founda-tion, and the present one selected, the prominence of which Is very magnlll-cent. magnlll-cent. The expense and delay occasioned occa-sioned by this change of location is undoubtedly the causo of thccdllicc not being completed. Eugene Thorcson, who had lately returned from a two ) cars'' mission to the Eastern States, gave a brief outline out-line of his missionary labors, and the ward choir, under the direction of -M. Itasmussen, was a very enlivening feature of the conference. Fruit Prospect. The present beautiful appearance of the orchards is inspiring; It ought to be encouraging to the owners, and Is so, no doubt, to the codling moth, who seems to enjoy the amount of latitude that our cltlens are granting It. I do not believe that live per cent of the owners are complying with tho spraying act, but I know from experience experi-ence that spraying has saved ninety percent of my fruit production. A lady told me tho other day that whllo her husband had some years ago saved their fruit by spraying, he had tied of the light, and she did not expect ex-pect any good apples any more unless the coldlng moth would direct Its attention at-tention to tho dandelions exclusively Personal Mention. II. II. Peterson Jr , our photographer, photograph-er, has gone north with his outfit and Intends to make faces at the Idaho-ans. Idaho-ans. Shelley is his first attack. Henry Mathews is seen on our streets again after a long stay at Rock Springs. Rumor had It awhile ago that he had succumbed to an Illness of long standing.
